1 Reviews of the Lumen V 400 Airbeam
By: Robstepney Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2014 Rating:
The Tent cost £575 in 2014 Vango seemed to offer a good support at the time of purchase. It is only really when things go wrong you can put this to the test. I was camping in the Isle of Man when a disaster struck all three of the air beams failed at the same time on Thursday night. I contacted camping spares after a lot of searching and a few calls to the tent supplier I was able to speak to a lady in Glasgow. A promise to send spare poles overnight for delivery Saturday AM made me feel reassured. However no parts on Saturday, nothing on Sunday and the same thing Monday morning. Checking the tracking number parcel force had the poles still in the hub. I contacted camping spares to see when I was likely to receive the parts with no reply to my email and no answer to my query over the phone. I decided to cancel the order as I was due back on the mainland on the Friday and could no guarantee that I would be their to receive the goods. I had found a Good Samaritan on the campsite that let me sleep in his awning in the meantime there was however no room for my clothes or equipment which I left in the now flooded and deflated tent. Upon inspection the tent had ripped along the canopy in several places and along the entry zips the Aluminum poles had already snapped when the front poles deflated and had ripped the gussets on both sides of the canopy. I made a complaint to Vango who said I should take this up with my dealer. The tent is five years old an had 5 1 week outings since I purchased it. The dealer advised me to go back to Vango. I was then told to go back to camping spares as this was not a warranty issue. Camping spares did not want to know. So my experience of Vango is poor build quality poor customer service appalling back up and an unwillingness to listen to their customers
I now have the option to repair the tent at around £200 or cut my losses and buy something else.

Manufacturer's Description
Brand new for 2014, and influenced by the distinctive tents popular in the Netherlands, this tent has all of the features you have come to expect from a Vango product. The sun canopy at the front provides shade in the sun, shelter in the rain and a relaxing space to enjoy the outdoors whatever the weather. The Vista front on the tent makes the inside of the tent really bright and provides a great viewing gallery to take in your surroundings. By using beams encased in a double skinned, highly robust, sleeve system we have created a reliable tent that allows you to camp with confidence. All this coupled with easy and quick to pitch Vango AirBeam technology makes this an ideal family holiday tent.
