3 Reviews of the Nevis 200
By: GenP Reason: I've used one Made in: 2023 Rating:
I have used these tents for many many years. Living as a nomad, they are absolutely fab.
Tent life is between 5 to 7 months used continually. This is dependant on where we have been traveling. If been, for example, the outer Hebrides, where the winds and conditions are diverse, the life is shorter, due to batterings from usually the wind. After 5 mo this plus the waterproofing begins to peel and.May get slight leaks in the pod corners, but nothing major.
Recently the fabric has ripped on the outer skin after only 4 months, but this issue I think from the very hot weather we have had in the Highlands, and the sun has baked the fabric, weakening it. This is the only time this has happened. Easily repaired with a bit of thread and tufftape repair tape.
The 2 man size is really a 1 person with room for gear.
These tents can be quite 'flappy' but that's the only con. For the price and the leight weight factor , they are brilliant and easy to carry on a pack.
Poles do break, but are easily replaced. You can buy whole pole sets or packs of 3.
The best backpacking tents out there, for me anyway.

I wanted a smallish 2 man tent for a pack that's one bag that firsts everything. This ticks every box.
Its really a big one man tent. A full size matt must only leave 30cm of free space inside the inner, but has plenty of space between the inner and outer for your gear.
Its fast to put up and take down, I'd say on average it takes between 5 and 10 minutes. A little filly to get the 2 short poles right the first couple of times, but once you figure it out its easy.
It holds up well in heavy wind too, I've been out in it in a couple of thunder storms and got a good nights sleep.
I was and still am very happy with this £74 tent.

I bought this tent for use when hiking and when having to live in the field for my job - I needed something very light, easy to pitch and with room to store basic kit and sleep in.
This ticks all those boxes - nice area to sleep in with enough space to store my ruck sack.
2 minor points - it says 2 man - it would be a VERY cosy 2 man tent.Possible, but you'd have to be very good friends with the other person ;) And the little poles at the ends of the tent are a little tricky to get just right.
Great value for money though. Seems tough, and easy to shove in a ruck sack.
