8 Reviews of the Nile 600

Brilliant tent, use of side pods gave a lot of additional space for us as a family of 3. The main bedroom was large enough for a double camp bed and the smaller back bedroom was large enough for a slightly smaller bed. Great first pitch, easy to put up and had no problems! the almost 2 metre front canopy also helps and gives a better look to the tent so over all really happy with tent!

We love this tent although it does leak through zip on smaller pod and some of the pole clips came off during the first pitch, perhaps this is how we pitch I don't know. Larger pod used for kitchen (it could do with having a mesh window for ventilation) the other a bedroom. It also has lots of room inside if it is raining, a nice bright interior, privacy zipped curtains - a necessity, very clear windows. Bag has wheels so average female can carry, two must pitch though.

We bought the Nile 600 because our Oregon 600 didn't have enough windows for us and we found it a little cramped. Even though there are only two of us, we do like a lot of space.
We used the Nile 600 with pods and canopy for it's first outing and we had a few issues setting it up as you have to get the footprint really 'straight' for the pods to attach easily. But that's a fault with us and not with the tent!
The space in the Nile 600 is unbelievable for a tent with it's compact footprint (compared to more modern units) and the head height is good. The tent is bright and airy and only suffers, in our opinion, because the windows don't open. However, with meshed door options on both sides, this isn't really an issue.
First time out we used the larger pod as a kitchen area which gave us really huge living space.
This weekend (20th May 2011) we used the Nile without pods or canopy and it was comfortable, bright, and much easier to erect.
If you can get hold of one of these we would totally recommend it.

Brought tent and used for one weekend and a summer holiday. Had high hopes as layout was ideal for us with the add on pods, one being used for an extra sleeping area and one as store/kitchen.
Tent was fantastic on a dry summer weekend in Norfolk and for first day in very wet weather at start of the summer holiday. Problems started on the second day when we added the side pods. Main section of the tent was great, but once pods were added we experienced significant leaks in moderate rain around the pod zips. Flaps to cover the zips were not sufficient to keep water out resulting in need for buckets in the pod doorways.
Having moved on to another site in Switzerland were rainfall was heavier on a few days, the pods became unusable with additional leaks through the seams between pod window and fabric. Sleeping pod had to be abandoned due to puddles on the floor under our sons camp bed resulting in a bit of a squeeze in the main sleeping area.
Another downside was the fact that we brought this as sold as having a sealed in groundsheet. Main tent on its own does have this but as soon as side pods are added then tent is no longer fully sealed as they have a bathtub style floor attaching to main tent. Pod corners at join are therefore open to the outside, disappointing.
Overall the design and layout was great and would have been ideal but the problems described led us to return the tent for refund as we had lost confidence. Ours may have been a one off but who knows. Shame because could have been a fantastic tent.

Our first tent, it has been a great starter for us. Having the pods added extra flexibility for us. It is easy to get up and not being a massive tent won't offer huge problems with getting a pitch, however, the pods add to the overall footprint of the tent which has given us some problems getting pitches at some sites. I think the new tents have improved upon this, but we always had drips where the pods zipped onto the main body of the tent which whilst was not a massive problem was a cause of irritation. Overall a great tent, good quality and has helped us decide which one we will buy next! Changing to a polycotton as I want to avoid the flappy noise of a nylon tent.

Not being a man of many words, I simply love this tent. The living area is very spacious and light. The two side pods are great for storage, although one of them doubles up as an additional bedroom should it be needed. I agree with the other reviews that 2 people is an absolute minimum to erect. My only complaint are the tent pegs, when will Vango sort them out!, almost all of them bent on the first couple of trips, so it is worth investing in some decent replacements. To conclude, I do not hesitate in recommending this tent.

Very flexible tent with huge light living area. You don't need muscles to put it up but you do need 2 people who know what they're trying to achieve! Porch design not brilliant as it drips just where you come out - but there is the option of using one of the pods as a wet weather entrance and keeping you're coats and boots away from the main part of the tent.

Great size tent for living area and pods are handy for storage. Bedroom size is small and putting the tent up needs muscle power. Apart from these minor things great tent. We took this tent on several trips now and had no probs with it. The carpets could do with something to keep them in place as they do move around a bit so you can trip on them. Head room is good in this tent and its nice and light inside.
