4 Reviews of the Odyssey 400
By: Alantw Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2012 Rating:
We first used our Odyssey 400 at Beddgelert camping in the forest site in June 2013, It was easy to pitch (20mins) very roomy, had no problems at all. Very good value for money. I would recommend this tent for a couple or small family on a budget. We could not test its weather proofing as it was absolutely red hot but it was quiet cool inside.

We bought the Vango Odessey 400 specifically as we could comfortably stand up in it - nothing worse than crouching down - we are about 6ft tall.
The first time we pitched the tent it took about 25 minutes, the same to take it down. One great thing about the tent is that the bag that it comes in has more than 2mm to spare - that means when a non robot packs it away it is easy to get in!
The sewn in groundsheet is great, when it rains (oh and it did!) the tent did nont leak, nor did any seep into the tent from the bottom.
There are 2 big disadvantages of the design of the tent (the reason it does not score full marks:
1. The arched shape of the tent with the doors on the side means that any water or condensation off the top of the tent runs down the side and drips into the tent because the doors are on the sloping side
2. The door cannot be propped up into a canopy. I do not like cooking inside a tent, when it rains there is nowhere dry to put the stove.
don't get me wrong, the tent as a whole is brilliant. There is even a little built in hole to put the EHU hook up cable through.
Certainly recommend, also it is Vango - quality manufacture.
Don't think about it. Buy one today!

We have recently brought this Odyssey 400 for camping weekends and our main summer holiday to Cornwall in August.
Pitch up time is reasonable as we were novices, 1st time it took 40 mins to pitch, really easy instructions, lightweight easy no problems. 2nd time pitching was easier just 25 mins. I like the option of 2 doors on either side, I love how you can stand up in this tent. It's spacious and enough room for 2 adults and our 8 year old would be a push to get 4 in with airbeds. Like the idea of the sleeping area that can be divided, however during this hot weather have not needed this.
The 3 windows at the front give you enough light. Love the tent so much we have just bought the canopy for extra space for cookery should in rain.
Rating is a good 9 out of 10 really pleased with the purchase and price.

I bought this one as it is big enough to stand up in, which is a must, and I particularly wanted a 4 man for the 2 of us so there would be enough room for all our stuff, and the dog.
It was roomy, and I liked the dual-side opening, we used different doors on different days depending on the weather,
It was simple to erect, and packed back in to its bag easily.
I haven't used it in the rain, so I don't know how waterproof it is.
My main complaint, is the 'divider' between the 2 bed rooms, its, well, rubbish and doesn't really offer any kind of privacy at all. In the end we took it down and just had a big sleeping area, but I would have preferred 2 'proper' bedrooms.
