1 Reviews of the Orava II 650XL
By: Monkeynut1982 Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2021 Rating:
This tent was available exclusively to a couple of independent camping stores in th UK, which made finding one locally at Outdoor World in Ossett, Yorkshire very pleasing.
The built in porch is very handy as a storage area for traversing from a wet field into a dry carpeted tent. The Living Area is VERY spacious. We had enough room to create a dining side, and a lounge area, and still had plenty of room for 4 kids to play on a rainy day.
The inner tent for the bedrooms is made from black 'nightfall' material, which helps to keep the bedroom darker for longer on a morning. Interestingly, you can see through this material from the inside, but not the outside, so it's great for a bit of privacy when changing clothes, etc.
The central bedroom, if using all 3 pods separately is a great size for a double airbed, while leaving some room for storage at the side. The small 2 berth is fine if you have roll mats, or a camping bunk bed, but would only realistically fit in a single airbed.
I would recommend buying the optional Footprint, as this tent is huge (23.8ft by 14.8ft), so keeping the bottom clean and dry definitely helps when packing it away for the next season. Less Cleaning to worry about.
My only real gripe is that, as this is an exclusive model, you don't have a lot of matching options when it comes to expansion for extended holidays, like a side awning for example, but there are currently plenty of almost matching options if you're that way inclined.
All in, I think this tent is great 'bang for buck' at £650 (or less) for a poled tent, especially when the nearest airbeam equivalent is almost £300 more.
