3 Reviews of the Rio 600
By: Iansails Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2005 Rating:
Recently got our Rio 600 out to use for a socially distanced trip to the Lakes. It withstood some strong winds and heavy rain very well, although it can bend alarmingly in strong gusts. Several hours very heavy rain only saw a couple of trips get in. We haven't camped for years, but this made us keen to do it again.

We bought this tent from a friend as a 'starter' tent to see if we'd like camping or not. It is a great tent, very sturdy, survived some strong winds and rain, no leaks and all the guy ropes stayed in place.
We can fit 3 airbeds, just about, in each compartment, although might be better suited to a double and a single. I'm 5' 9' and can't quite stand up in the bedroom compartments but can stand easily in the central compartment as can my 6'3' husband.
There's not an awful lot of room in the central compartment for everybody, we compensated by having the doorway up and then a gazebo on the end of that, so was fine, even in the rain, as long as not really windy.
This is a good tent for a trial run at camping, you can probably pick one up quite cheaply, so not a major investment if you're not sure if you like camping. We have found that we do, so are now looking for something with more living space, a bit more light and airy (the central compartment on this can be a bit dark, windows are quite small) and with a zipped in ground sheet (this one has a loose ground sheet but there are bathtub ground sheets on tbe bedroom inners, and if pitched correctly with the groundsheet not poking out underneath the tent, you shouldn't get any water inside.)
We will have fond memories of this tent, and will be passing it on to a good home shortly to convert some more camping sceptics!

Although this tent has been discontinued for some time it's served us brilliantly as a very waterproof, wind proof family tent. It's a vis-a-vis style, each bedroom holding 3 people, although you can leave one inner out so you have more living space. It goes up really quickly, and I've even managed to pitch on my own, good head height too.
My only grumble is that if you happen to be stuck indoors in the rain then it's a bit dark and dingy as the windows are very small and not all that effective. We've only changed tent though as our family is now 6 people and it's just a bit too snug.
