2 Reviews of the Rivendale 500 XL Airbeam

By: Zipperwales  Reason: I own(ed) one  Made in: 2017   Rating:

Tried our new tent out over the last May bank holiday pitched up on a nice sunny afternoon did not fully guy out just a long weekend camp to test the new tent on a site about a mile from where we live we are using a Kampa Filey Air 5 at present but we have found out on a long camp we need more room in the living space of the tent and we looked at the Rivendale 800XL and that was just too big for the two of us and so we went for the 500XL and I have to say it is a perfect size for the two of us good size bedrooms large living space and good size cooking area in the front off the tent

On the Friday night we had a storm had a few over the years but this is the first time we have had a thunderstorm that went on for a good two hours rolling thunder/lighting that did not stop and the rain it just poured down at one point I thought we would have to get and wait this out in the car did not think a tent could keep this amount of rain out but I was wrong we did not have one drip of water at all in the tent and as I did not fully peg out the tent it did not move and I did not use the Vango tension band system I forgot about it as we do not have it in the Kampa tent

On the Saturday was long wet day but still no water in the tent and even in the front part of tent without the sown in ground sheet no problem and then on the Sunday the sun came out and it was a super day and we had the front of the tent folded back and both side doors and front door open with just the fly net’s zipped up and that night was warm and in the morning found no problem with condensation good size low vent’s down on the side of the tent worked well.

Very happy with the tent can find no faults and the other half loves the large zip up windows and the sky lights in the roof that run across the side above the windows that can be covered if you zip up the windows all the way up and now the main door at the front is moved to one side there is a large area at front now to set up kitchen and the new Sky track system good idea that you can run a line across the inside to hang up the odd towel or strip lights that can run down the centre of the roof and we do have a electric Bravo pump but I did blow one beam up with the new Vango pump to give it a try and it is very easy it’s about twenty pumps to blow up a beam going on a long 17 day trip to the Gower in July will add some new pics with the tent set up for a long stay just put one on for now to show basic Photo of our new the tent we were camped at Parc-Cwm Darren in the South Wales Valleys

This is the latest model for 2017. Overall measurements approx 7m x 3.5m. Extremely spacious with generous living area, 2 bedrooms that can be unzipped to make one large one. Lots of pockets on the front of the bedroom as well as inside. A door either side and at the front and 2 windows either side with covers that can be tucked away. Plenty of air vents all round and the new skytrak system to hang accessories, lights etc. It comes with a front extension and ground sheet perfect as a kitchen area which can be fully opened/closed. Optional extras of footprint groundsheet and carpet made it feel even more homely. Would definitely recommend this for smaller families/couples.
