This is an excellent tent and very robust.
We used this tent this spring and woke up to a foot of snow and freezing blizzards. The tent had no trouble coping with the conditions. Unlike us.
We have found it to be very good value for money.
It is light to carry compared to other four person tents we have had.
It is easy to pitch even when only two of us.
There is ample living space although the bedrooms are a bit tight, but there are usually two adults and one child so we store our stuff in the bedroom our child sleeps in.
Would definitely recommend this tent for a family.

Brought this at the end of season last year as an ex demo tent. We were after another Vango, but once we saw this one, there was no looking back. The front door being straight up and down means that there is maximum head room for the floor space. We have now used this for two week long breaks this year. For the first week away, it was certainly put through its paces with the wind! The tent held up incredibly well. The wind was laying onto the bedroom end and was rather drafty, but a slight adjustment of the guy ropes sorted this out. Either the front door or the side entrance can be used as the main door, but the canopy on the side door does restrict the height a little (ok for me, but hubby had to duck). As we had such bad weather, we had to cook inside the tent. Initially we had a problem with condensation, but after opening the vents on the side windows, found this solved the problem. Having a completely sewn in ground sheet is lovely as well, as no gaps under the edges for slugs etc to get in. With the door and fly door zipped up, the tent is totally enclosed. The bedroom area was more than adequate for the two of us and our bags etc. The main area, was big enough for table, chairs and cooking unit, along with cool boxes etc. Very generous space. We have the extension as well, but as yet have not used it, but may do next year, when will be camping with friends. We have not got a carpet for it, but put down a couple of plastic backed picnic rugs. There was a slight slip hazard with these, so will be looking at the carpet for it next. We are so pleased that we went for this tent rather that the one we originally thought about. It has been brilliant for both of our weeks away and even goes back into the bag easily!

This is our second Vango Samara 400, the first one had to be replaced because of bad workmanship and unfortunately the second one has a couple issues with the sleeping area which are currently being sorted out. Despite these issues we love the tent and are really looking forward to going away again next month (July 2012). We have just returned from a very wet and windy stay in Rutland but the tent held up to the weather brilliantly even when we experienced gale force winds during one day/night. We would definitely recommend this tent but as stated in other reviews although it is advertised as a 4 person tent, it is only really suitable for 2/3 people because of the size off the sleeping area.

Bought the Samara 400 last week as a weekender from ebay with carpet and footprint paid £240 all brand new. Really pleased, tried it out this weekend took us 50 mins all up in the pouring rain the only tiny bug bare is the side door the zip was a bit tight to open or close. The rain stopped then the wind started and got worse during the night. At 06.30 we had to pack up before there was any damage done we had it all away in 35 mins it was hard work in the wind, I am amazed how the Vango Samara stood up to what the elements through at us, I am really pleased with quality of tent and I'm glad we went for this one.Would recommend as a big 4 birth weekend tent

We have used our tent once, and were impressed with the amount of natural light that the three large side windows, and two smaller windows at the front of the tent allowed in.We also found that the amount of living space was quite adequate,at this time I must say that there were only two of us using it.Having talked about it,we both felt that if there were four people using the tent,it would possibly be a little too cosy in the sleeping pod.Having had experience with other tents,we had it erected in around 20-25 minutes, then pegged down in another 15-20 minutes.
I have only one teeny tiny gripe, but this is very easily overcome should you want to,this is the large vent at the back has no way to restrict the amount of air flow through it only the outside guy-lines,which can allow too much draught through into the sleeping area, especially when it is cool in spring and I would imagine autumn as well.
Another nice touch with Vango tents, unlike our previous tent, the flaps for the windows fasten on the inside of the tent, meaning no-one on the outside can lift them and look in as happened several times whe we camped with other family members.
Ma says if there are four of you using it,it would be worth purchasing and using the porch extention, which we have purchased but not yet used. This will make the tent just over eight meters long, giving lots of extra space.
Like all tents,if it says four man,it will sleep three comfortably allowing for kit storage, six berth, four or five etc.
This tent definitely ticks all our our boxes for our requirements.

Completely new to camping so after a lot of web searching and reviewing decided to purchase the Vango samara 400 as it seems to tick all the boxes which we were looking for. We have just returned from our 1st camping trip and the tent was fabulous. It only took us about 40minutes to pitch which considering new to this I think that was good going. It was just so simple to erect and once up and things loading inside there was plenty of room still in living space and bedroom. It is a 4 berth but only myself and husband was present on this camping trip so we took the divider down in bedroom to make it into one big one.
I must say that is the only downer on this tent as if there were 4 persons the divider is only clipped on at one point so there wouldn't be much privacy. We had a heavy down pour whilst there and the tent didn't seem to be affected by anyway with it. We had 2 chairs a table camping larder unit plus camping stove in living compartment and there still seemed to have plenty of room, not once giving you the feeling of being overcrowded. This is defiantly a excellent all rounder tent and so pleased we picked it. We are now looking to add on the extention for future camping trips .

As complete novice campers and after doing a lot of research we decided on the Samara 400 as it ticked all the boxes for what we wanted: 4000HH, easy to pitch, covered doorway, large living area and it had to look nice!
This took us 20 mins to pitch the poles, then another 20 mins to peg it all - we truly are novices - neither of us have ever camped before and this was our VERY FIRST pitching of a tent we've ever done! Was really straight forward and easy.
It was quite breezy and the tent felt solid. The 2 mesh doors zip all the way round, which was handy with our 2 dogs who are Houdini wanna-be's! All the windows make it feel bright and airy and the living area can easily fit us all in with a cooker, chairs and the dogs.
We absolutely LOVE this tent, and can't wait to go away again in it, the ONLY tiny thing that we found that was a negative was the flappy divider in the bedroom - it was a little too flappy and could do with some velcro to attach it better to the rear wall of the inner tent? I'm being really picky with this tho, and it certainly wouldn't put me off buying it again!
BUY IT!

We fell in love with this tent at first site, we purchased it along with the footprint in April and have used it 3 times already. The construction of the tent is brilliant with a 4000HH and strong powerflex fibreglass poles which stood up to strong winds over the May day bank holiday. It is very easy to pitch and took us about 30 mins on our first pitch, that was with 2 adults, we can now do it in about 15-20 mins. The bedroom compartment sleeps 4 and has a dividing curtain to make it into 2 bedrooms, however as there is only the 2 of us we use it as 1 big bedroom which is great as we have a large double height bed. The living area is very spacious and will fit our table, chairs, cupboard etc. With no problems. We have recently bought the carpet which makes the tent very cosy and we have also bought the front extension for longer trips which virtually doubles the living space. All in all this is a great tent and ticks all the boxes for us.
