Have used this tent for 3 years and have experienced all types of weather and has not let a drop of water in. We brought the arwning extension and fitted it with a velcro in breathable groundsheet this makes this a very spacious living space the only down side to the arwning is that it has no windows in the front door.I agree about the very poor carpet and we have replaced with a Outwell carpet.

Regarding the rear vent I have fitted velcro so it can be shut in high winds,also if you twist the tapes several times before pegging this will keep them quiet.I agree with jacfrosty comments regarding the side door this is also relevant to the arwning door a great opportunity for some shade missed.But still a great tent.

We bought a Solace TC 400 for a family of 5 plus dog, and found it a superb tent.

We went for the 400 because going bigger restricted where we could find flat pitches. We have camp bunk beds which allows us to fit 3 kids in one of the bedrooms (aged 9, 7 &4). We like the built in inner for the living area, but also bought the porch door which made the front of the tent a great kitchen/dining area with ventilation.

We chose the Technical Cotton because we wanted a more robust tent (our dog put his foot through our last tent after a big stretching session), quieter in the wind and rain, cooler in the summer and warmer in the colder seasons. It certainly met our expectations. Now, provided it lasts us 10 - 15 years it will have been a fantastic investment.

It’s a lot bigger and heavier with the TC, but we’re ok with that. I reckon one person could pitch it (if not too windy). It two is much easier.

It’s our fourth Vango tent in succession and won’t be our last.

We used to own the fabulous Royal Atlanta 6 but decided to downsize and upgrade. We chose the Vango Solace 400 Airbeam as it ticked all the boxes, it’s a good size for two of us although the lounge area is a bit cosy, but we bought the porch door which makes another large room. The porch is great with or without the door as it is the perfect shape for shade from the sun wind or rain. We undo the bedroom partition so we have a nice large bedroom, but you can’t remove the partition and it looks a bit untidy and the doors are a bit weird in that when you open them the door unzips to the floor and just flops on the floor! Whereas with other tents the doors hang and you can clip them back. The slide rail & clips are great for hanging the lights, the Vango carpet lets it down, being the wrong colour when the tent is brown and the carpet is a dowdy blue and poor quality excuse for a carpet. I bought a brown and beige Royal Atlanta high quality carpet cut it down and stitched an edge on for an extra luxury finish. The dark technology bedroom is great and really does work. We bought the Vango electric pump to make life a bit easier but feel that this isn’t the best option as it is quite slow and we are still researching what else we can use. The tent is very heavy but it helps having a wheeled bag. Generally we love it but it has a few nightly bits.

This is a great tent. We have used it for two separate camping trips so far, one long weekend in Ireland and we are just home from 3 weeks in France (in various locations so we pitched and unpitched a few times). We bought it to replace our Vango Icarus 500 as we wanted an airbeam with a canopy area for cooking equipment. After using it in Ireland we decided to spend the extra money on the porch door. This was definitely worth buying for rainy days, however given the initial price of the tent it would have been nice for the door to come with it. Also I do think the door is a bit bulky and could have been made lighter, but that’s a minor gripe. Once we had it zipped on we just left it on each time we took the tent down as the oversized tent bag had plenty of room for it. The tent is massive when packed down and takes up a good chunk of our car boot space. There are just two of us though so we can forego the back seats. I’d imagine if you have a family you would need a trailer or at least a roof box to store stuff. The tent pitches very easily and because of the supersized beams it is incredible sturdy once up. There is plenty of space for two, we unzipped the bedroom divider and had a nice open space with plenty of room for our clothes. I really like that the front door is set off to one side so you have place to store your cooking cabinet in the porch outside and room for a table inside without blocking the door. When we initially got the tent I wasn’t sure how waterproof it would be but we had 8 hours of solid thundering rain in Bordeaux and it didn’t let in a drop. It also dries out reasonably quickly for a polycotton tent. As a previous reviewer said the webbing straps on the back air vent and front awning do catch the wind and can be very noisy. On our first night using the tent it did keep us awake. We solved this by replacing the straps with guy line and it’s not an issue anymore. Being polycotton the tent is very breathable and comfortable, one of the days in France reached 40 degrees and the tent was still (just about) bearable to be inside when dressing. I really like the skytrack system as it’s good to have options for where to hang lanterns and other items. I would have liked two skytrack on either side of the outer canopy to allow you to run a line for hanging tea towels. I also would have like a few more pocket storage areas in the living room space but again these are only minor issues. All in all, I am very happy with this tent, it has plenty of space for a couple to enjoy a long camping holiday without tripping over each other and stuff. It felt like a bit of an indulgent splurge when we first bought it but it has everything we wanted in a tent and I know it will last us a good long time.

Used for 5 nights on an extremely windy campsite in North Devon. Tent was rock solid in 40 mph winds. Only fault if you can call it that is that the venting at the back of the tent is extensive and permanently vented with no option to close it which means can be very cold at night. Other possible problem is that the back vent is not poled so when it's windy it flaps and is very noisy and kept me awake most of the night.Theres no option to close this vent. Also the back straps are webbing and they also make a racket if it's windy. It can stand up to massive wind but at the same time will be cold and noisey during windy weather but otherwise a great tent. Must be packed away dry as if wet would be far too heavy to handle.

Really happy with this tent. We have used it for a total of 38 nights over the course of the summer, mostly in France but our 'trial' 2 nights were in the UK with our grandson. We find the pitching really easy. It also 'unpitches' very easily. The reason for only 9 out of 10 rating is because I would have liked 2 side doors instead of just one. Also if the designers could incorporate a way of totally opening the side door that is there so it could be used as a canopy this tent would be totally perfect. However, these are only small niggles. We find it very comfortable for the 2 of us (plus dog). 4 people would be a bit tight. It pitches in minutes and to be fully pegged out about 30 minutes. It was extremely stable although we never experienced huge winds. I love this tent.
