2 Reviews of the Solace 500XL TC Air
By: Campasarow Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2019 Rating:
Having previously owned the original 2016 Vango Edoras 500XL airbeam I was wanting to upgrade to Polycotton but wanted to stick as close to the size and configuration of the Edoras.
The Solace 500XL TC fits the bill perfectly being almost identical in dimensions and layout. This meant we could keep and utilise the carpet and footprint from our Edoras.
Whilst discontinued (goodness knows why) I was able to pick up a a new Solace from JR Leisure in June 2021, just in time for our annual 2 week holiday in Cornwall.
So glad I made the shift to Polycotton (I have previously owned cotton Frame Tents) as this makes for a whole more comfortable, quieter and more stable experience.
As previously mentioned this has all the familiarity and advantages of the Edoras 500XL we previously owned and as this is only used for two of us, provides a very generous living space also enabling us to set up the kitchen inside the tent, keeping the attached porch free for sitting out and keeping things like our cool box, firepit and other bits and pieces undercover.
Being a 2019 tent we also benefit from the additional sky light windows and the sky track. I also like the addition of the storm porch over the side door.
I am so pleased we made this purchase and hope that it will now be the final tent we buy, lasting us a good many years to come.
I have given it 9 rather than 10 stars as a slight difference in the length between the beams internally means that it is slightly shorter than the Edoras meaning that the kitchen unit we use is slightly too long to fit between the front and next beam (how we used it in the Edoras) so now have to place across the front window. For me this arrangement doesn't work quite as well but is only a small niggle.
Highly recommended.

I've camped twice now in this tent. Once in very hot summer temperatures and once in September autumnal gusts and rain. It's very sturdy and the fabric keeps you warm when you need it and cool during the heat. I just love watching the sides of the inner bedroom gently sway in the breeze at night, it has a very safari tent feel. The two of have the tent put up in about 20 minutes start to finish. I'd highly recommend this tent for couples wanting a little more luxurious space and families alike.
