4 Reviews of the Solaris 500 Airbeam
By: Man in a tent Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2015 Rating:
Good tent with one or two faults.
They need to have a better system of guy ropes at the front. Two more guys are needed at the front corners. The centre front also needs another guy as in high wind it starts to collapse then springs back up again. (remember the weebles? Weebles wobble but they don't fall down.) I was using the tent on the Yorkshire Moors not a highly sheltered lowland site. Despite this not a drop of rain came in during one of the fiercest storms I have ever camped in and I have been camping for 50 years. It is as waterproof as any tent I have ever used.
I shall be looking closely at getting some extra guys added. The internal guy system which braces the tent during high winds works well and is not obtrusive.
I agree that it is far too small for 5, perfect for 2 adults.
A mesh door on the front would be good but you can shut the front and use the side mesh door. The sun canopy is useful on a calm sunny day and soon rolls up if is windy. Just remember to roll it the right way. Don't make the silly mistake I did and roll it so it fills with rainwater.
EHU entry points are on the side of the tent level with the front of the bedroom section.
I shall be considering buying an electric pump, being a cheapskate I shall look in the winter sales.

Very quick to inflate. Family of 5, 2 Adults and 3 children. We had 2 airbeds in the bedroom section and plenty big enough for us.
Had a quick look on how to inflate on the internet before going, so quick and simple. To dismantle the tent, you literally had to press the release air Valves, cam down quickly and easily. Withstood, very high winds and really heavy, constant downpour on the first night. Fibre pole tents next to us, didn't do too well! we got this tent as a complete package and would recommend. Shop around for the best price like I did for a really bargain.

Just returned home after a 4 night stay in a sweltering North Wales. The tent being Vango is a quality tent BUT a couple of glaring let downs. The main one being the lack of an insect net on the large front door. The tent is advertised as having a zipped EHU entry point but if it has it must be well hidden for we couldn't find it. As usual the capacity is well inflated, not only by Vango but most manufacturers too. It's supposed to be 5 berths but in reality it's a comfortable 2, 3 at a push. FIVE berths ?? Give us a break, it would resemble a Roman orgy. I'm now a convert to airbeam tents. Just a few strokes of the pump and it springs to life. It's so easy the missus can erect the structure solo whilst I enjoy a cool one.

Purchased this tent this year and have used it twice already, it's so easy to put up,it literally goes up in 5 minutes once you have pegged the 4 corner's out.
We had a heavy downpour on our last trip and tent stayed home dry,and very solid in the wind, unlike the fibreglass poled tents that were near us.
Canopy is a bit flimsy but can be rolled away in 2 minutes.
Overall very pleased with it.
