3 Reviews of the Tornado 300
By: VangoMan02 Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2010 Rating:
I recently got a hold of one of the last ones made (not sure of when it was made so 2010 is a guess). It was new still in the bag. I used it for a two night valley camp. I owned the 200 and thought it was a great tent, as is the 300. Pity its not made any longer as tents like this are well made and bomb proof. I would say its too heavy for backpacking but do able with two sharing the weight. I was car camping so no issues.
Easy to erect on my own and with being semi geodesic it will stand alone which then makes it easier to peg and guy out etc.
Once pitched its rock solid in the wind,I did experience a bit more condensation than I would have expected and I was solo but it was very damp outside at night, everything outside the tent was really wet. Being down in a valley wouldn't help.
There is a large vent front and back, also top half of inner has top part which can be zipped down to reveal top half with mesh, so lots of ventilation in place.
Good sized porch with door each side which have two way zips.
I really like this tent, even better than the 200 and will see how the condensation fair on my next camp.

As other reviewers state this tent is lightweight and compact but still roomy enough. Very easy to put up and stays up well in very windy conditions. Only downside is venting which seems just a little too efficient and allows a bit of a draught.

This tent is very lightweight and compact for it's size. There is plenty of room inside which is unusual for a mountain rated tent. The alloy poles are colour coded with rather attractive anodising, in fact this is a nice looking tent all round. The tent is absolutely fine in all weather conditions. I can't really fault this tent, the only slight downside is the dark coloured material makes it a little dark inside.
