4 Reviews of the Tunnel Extension

This is undoubtedly an easy and relatively cheap way of gaining a lot of extra space.
We fitted it on to a Robens Double Dreamer. That is a tunnel tent with a sloping roofline, and the Vango extension is made for a horizontal roofline. So I had some concern about how good the fit would be. The answer is, it was surprisingly easy to get a pretty good fit with a bit of putting things at slight angles and pulling tight. I think one of the edges would leak in driving rain but it should still stay pretty dry in most of the volume. It was fine in the non-windy conditions we used it in, but I'm guessing it's not as robust in high winds as the tent itself. And the gap between the sides and the ground seems unnecessarily large. But those minor niggles aside, it really does dramatically improve the ease of tent living, well worth the money. And I tentatively conclude it could be made to fit pretty well any model of tunnel tent tolerably well.

I bought this tunnel extension after a holiday last year to add some living space to my tent. It works perfectly and fits the tent really well. It is spacious and light, thanks to the windows and adds the valuable storage area for food/shoes etc.
I haven’t been unlucky enough to have a rainy holiday in it yet but I’m sure that day will come and when it does, this extension will come in extremely handy for somewhere to sit.
The only negative I have is that it is really tricky to put up, especially on a windy day. Being 5 foot nothing, I found it extremely difficult getting the flap over the tent to secure at the back so I would definitely recommend 2 people to put it up.
Other than that, it was worth every penny and I would definitely recommend to anyone with a tunnel tent.
Please note, as you can see from the photos I have uploaded, my tunnel extension is actually branded up Lichfield. Vango and Lichfield are now the same company so it is exactly the same extension.

We brought this as a addition for our Vango Tigris 800. And it gave us some excellent 'porch' storage space which the tent lacked. It was quite easy to put up and felt very sturdy due to the large rigid poles.
But, we found it did not seem to fit to the tent very well, the large flap which goes over the tent to secure it flapped about a lot in the wind and kept coming away from its position either side of the poles it went over. We tried many ways of securing these guys to make it more secure but never really found a right way.
But other than that it was a great addition to the tent.

Having decided we needed a little more covered space on our Vango Albany, we took a look at what was available for our model. We selected the Tunnel Extension over the canopy as we preferred having a door on the front.
Currently, Vango only advertise their range of extensions to fit the latest tents, however we have since discovered that the tunnel extension will fit the side door of most regular sized tunnel tents.
Pitching is fairly quick and easy to accomplish. It is possible to erect on your own, but I would highly recommend a helper to hold it in place whilst you fix the guys on the opposite side of the tent.
Like most Vango products, the instructions are sewn into the carrybag and explain the procedure well. Once up, the Extension is surprisingly sturdy even in windier conditions, despite the gap of a couple of inches at the bottom (the only reason I've given it 9 rather than 10).
Even though it isn't specifically listed for our Albany, the fit to the side of the tent is spot on, with only the hint of a gap when the wind is flapping the tent fabric around.
The amount of usable space has improved considerably with the addition of this extension, and I would not hesitate to recommend this to other Vango tunnel tent owners.
