4 Reviews of the Weekender 500
By: Nick G Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2009 Rating:
Great tent based on the Icarus 500 but with a better waterproof rating. We are new to camping and really read up on tents before making our choice of this tent.
With the large vango extension, carpet & footprint, the tent package really does give you the option of a short night or nights break alongside longer week breaks with no issues on living or sleeping room.
We have used the tent twice now and we really are made up with the tent. The tents is well priced, got internal support cords to help against adverse weather, has a higher water proof rating compared to the Icarus and has 2 doors.
The head height standing room throughout the tent living and sleeping quarters really does make a difference.
Our first ever trip with this tent was recently, when we had to pitch in the pouring rain and high wind, then to have a storm on the first night, the tent putting up with it all. The tent remained water tight and sound.
The tent does seem to be well manufactured and we look forward to using it again. Would highly recommend this tent :-)

This is an excellent package and is exclusive to Great Outdoors. It consists of the Icarus 500 with 3000mm hydrostatic head protection not 2000mm, renamed to Weekender 500 limited edition and a large canopy.
As it was the first time I set up and was basically on my own it did take about 40 mins just for the tent and 20mins for the canopy.
The package as a whole has been very well thought out.
The ventilation system works well. There are three windows which keep the tent light and have curtains/covers. We had heavy rain and with the extra HH protection we stayed dry with no leaks from seams. The tension band system really makes a difference in windy conditions.
There is even an access point if you are going electric.
Would fit four adults fairly comfortably and you can stand up in both sleeping and living quarters. With one adult male and two early teenage girls, it was spacious enough to be able to keep our suitcases in the tent.
The extra under cover area the canopy gives is a great addition.
I bought the carpet and the windbreak and just used a 4mx3m groundsheet extra to keep the mud off. There is really no need to buy the footprint for this tunnel tent.

Been using this tent nearly every summer weekend for the last 2 year and its still in great condition. It is excellent quality and has been real value for money. Love how you can stand up all the way through and with only 3 main poles its easy to assemble. A definite 10 out of 10 for me.

I bought this package recently and I've had chance to use it a couple of times now. Its a great tent, nice and spacious, the sewn in groundsheet is brilliant and I like the fact you can stand in the bedrooms and throughout the whole tent. The canopy is really well made and compliments the tent and gives it a nice streamline look. Together with the carpet and footprint make for a great all in package. Doors don't seal too well when shut.
