2 Reviews of the Monolith

I've had my monolith for about 10 years although it could be more . It's a great tent, easily erected and has withstood all sorts of weather without any concerns. On mine, (which could be different than that owned by Strawberryfication) you have to pitch it either all at once or fly only as the poles fit into a pocket, which in turn sit inside velcro pockets on the fly. To be honest I've never tried putting the inner in separately as it just cannot locate into those aforementioned pockets.
Only gripe is the strap which runs the full length. Although it's great for adjusting, I've always wondered why Vaude couldn't have marked it for 'optimum' length. In fact, I've wondered why it's adjustable at all, and every time I put it up, I keep vowing to check the length and mark it myself!
Ive always found it to be roomy in the sleeping area and the porch area is great for sitting around and everything else. My only concern now is, as said, the height. As we're now getting a bit older, and because of the children and everything else you need these days, we now need something bigger. Saying that, the monolith is still great for throwing on the back of the motorcycle and getting away for a quick break.

We have had this tent for the past 7 years and have camped in all weathers (including the tail end of a hurricane), and remained warm and dry. A 2/3 man tent, with large porch to accommodate lots of gear, 2 bicycles, or the optional inner tent which can sleep 1/2 young children. A fantastic tent which is easily erected in <10 mins with just two poles. It can be pitched fly first or all in one. Wonderful for backpacking/cycling due to its light weight, we have even gone backpacking with it and a 5 yr old, 1.5 yr old and a six week old baby! Only downside would be the head height at 1.2m. Unfortunately now just getting a little small for all of us.
