2 Reviews of the Taurus I
By: Njcouzens Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2009 Rating:
This is probably the best tent I have ever owned for solo/ 2 man camping. I practically lived in it on Dartmoor over a summer and it did the job every night. It is light enough to justify taking it when on my own and has plenty of room for kit etc inside as well as a decent sized porch. The shape means strong winds ignore it and I have pitched it in under 4 minutes before. Only gripe is the groundsheet, in wet weather it is poor, I have a footprint for it that does the job though. One of my favourite bits of kit if I'm honest. Buy one and be part of the cool gang.

I have owned this tent for 6 years now and have lost the number of times it has been used for wild camping trips. The tent is pitched in one with the inner attached to the flysheet. The tent is very stable with one pole running the length of the tent and providing the 'ridge' and the shorter pole creates the arch and creates the width of the tent. I bought the footprint which attaches to the sewn in groundsheet and it provides a floor in the entrance. The tent is full of well thought out design features like pockets for the inner door to fold into and loads of handy pockets and a further ridgeline to hang equipment on. The front door also comes with a 4 zip system that allows you to open and close away from the wind, create a 'window' and handy little clips that mean you can set it up in a number of different configurations. As a starter back-packing tent, this tent has proved itself time and again and has never let me down whatever the weather.

Manufacturer's Description
A great introductory model when starting off in the camping and hiking world: optimally ventilated with one vestibule, it also offers “foolproof” pitching. The durable flysheet is made from weather-proof, PU-coated polyester, holding up well under heavy rains, and a cleverly devised ventilation system maintains a comfortable sleeping climate. The new pin solutions provide more foot space as well as increase the tent''s wind stability. Also available in a maxi version (Taurus II).
