1 Reviews of the Antares 9 XP

By: Bayne1j  Reason: I own(ed) one  Made in: 2007   Rating:

This tent has a very spacious layout with a 3mx3m sitting area as well as a large porch area which is large enough to house all your kitchen equipment (we use 2 tables along one side). There is no need for any other structure like a gazebo with this tent! What I like is that it is possible to stand up in all parts of the tent including the bedrooms.

I would say it is fairly easy to erect - we have done it with just 2 of us.

There are a lot of windows including in the top of the flysheet and use of mesh doors to keep insects out.

This tent has steel poles and has withstood extremely high winds for us on several occasions without any fear of being uprooted!

The main bad point for me is that the tent leaked on first couple of uses - on quite a few of the seams. However, once we were able to wait for dry conditions to apply seam sealant and spray the top of the tent we were OK.

Also, I believe there are too many mesh venting panels which you can not close which means there is quite a draft on windy occasions - I do feel the cold easily though. I do understand that without venting this sort of tent is susceptible to condensation but I would prefer to be able to chose how many vents remain open - like on my other tent an Outwell Montana 4.

Overall, we are very happy with this tent and compared to our previous tent, an Outwell Hartford XL, it is streets ahead.

Manufacturer's Description

The Wynnster Antares 9XP is a superb family tent ideal for long holidays, as it provides accommodation that is both versatile and comfortable.

The Antares 9XP offers three bedrooms (Two Doubles and a 5 berth which can be divided into a double and a treble)

The tent pitches Flysheet first and should take two people 50 mins to pitch.
All fabrics used in for the flysheet, sleeping compartments and groundsheets have been given a Fire Retardant treatment, which in the event of an emergency will allow significantly more time to escape.
Each Wynnster tent is supplied with a repair kit and they include useful items to carry out emergency repairs.
The taped seams are heat sealed with a polyurethane tape to ensure complete waterproof protection.
The poles benefit from a colour coding system. This incorporates colour-coded poles and pole sleeves, groundsheet clip points, plus colour coded bedroom-hanging points thus reducing the assembly time by highlighting the correct place for each part.
The poles are tough steel poles this provides a very rigid and durable structure that is easy and quick to assemble.
The tent benefits from secondary mesh doors. This is a very fine mesh panel behind as entrance door that when used on its own allows light and air into the living space whilst keeping out unwanted insects.
The groundsheet is sewn in and is fire retardant, durable polyethylene.
The complete interior of the tent(the communal space & bedrooms) has the benefit of an integral, bathtub style groundsheet and secondary mesh doors, which will effectively keep this space free from insects and draughts.
The main pegging points have been reinforced with several layers of fabric and strong bar tack stitching to provide maximum strength.
The Antares 9XP comes in three boxes: Tent Box measures approx 92cm x 43cm x 52cm and there are two Pole Boxes measuring approx 90cm x 32cm x 22cm each.
