2 Reviews of the Condor 9

I would pretty much agree with the previous review. Its a brilliant spacious tent for 6 or 7 people but the size is also a problem.

We (me, Fi and two kids) manage to put the thing up in about an hour! The first time we used this tent we snapped a pole section, probably due to the weight of the tent. Sort of worked out a routine now. The kids sit on the flysheet to stop it blowing away. Once poles are slotted through the fly sheet I support the weight of tent from underneath while Fi anchors the poles in place. This can be a struggle, especially when windy.

Need to be staying a week somewhere to be worth the effort. We have bought another tent for shorter stays, hopefully easier and quicker to erect.

This tent is fantastic once it's up. It's spacious and airy, with three bedrooms and living space big enough for dining table/chairs, a set of camping armchairs and more! You can stand up in the two side bedrooms.

However, you'd be pushed to get 9 people sleeping in this, unless they were on the floor or all sharing a camping mat. You'd get three in the back bedroom, but a double airbed takes up almost all of the side ones - so I think 7 people would be more realistic.

Another issue is that it is 5.25 metres wide and many campsites have a limit of 5 metres. We have a smaller tent and we end up either having to use that or paying for 2 pitches at least half of the time. I wish they had made it just 25 cm smaller!

The main problem for us, though, is that it is an absolute nightmare to put up. It needs at least two or three tall men. We've tried putting it up with me, hubby and teenage daughter and not a chance! So we always have to go around begging other men for help. Also the slightest breeze and it is very hard to hold down whilst pitching - it blew out of the hands of 4 men and scratched all down the side of our car last time, and it wasn't even windy. It also broke two poles just trying to get it up as it is easy for them to over-flex. So we only tend to take it if we are staying on site a week or more, as it's just not worth the hassle.

So, although I love it once it's up, I wouldn't buy it again.
