5 Reviews of the Hawk 4

This is one of 4 tents we own and although not the newest or largest it is our favourite. First it's quick and straight forward to put up. There are 2 of us and we like the fact we can decide on how we want to configure the inside ie if the weather is cooler we use the dividers to give us 2 side pods each side of the middle living area. If it's hotter we use just one divider and have a larger area to sleep in. In addition there is a great roomy porch area which we keep our cooking equipment in and if it's not fine to cook outside, you can cook in the porch too. There are 2 large entrances which have additional mosquito nets so you can let the light and air in but keep insects out. So whatever the weather it's a great tent to use.

Have owned a Hawk 4 for several years now, going to folk festivals alone, in a variety of weathers.

Always single-handed, but peg out carefully and it is easy to put up (dodging the rain if you can - patience usually pays off). Takes me 25 minutes alone.

Palatial for one, spacious for two, comfortable for three or two adults & two kids, and manageable for two couples with decent-sized bedrooms and the large central area plus the porch.

Thanks to sewn-in groundsheet, keeps dog safe when necessary.

Good solid all-rounder tent, the only downside being that inner goes up first.

I have used our Hawk 4 only once and could not recommend it. It is very easy to put up but a nightmare if it is raining as the inner goes up first. Which if the weather is wet you spend the rest of the weekend in a damp and musty tent. Although the tent is draught free the porch generates a lot of wind noise and can cause sleepless nights. Overall I think this tent will stay in the garage gathering dust.

We have the 2006 version of this tent have recently decided to purchase another in a similar style. However when looking around shops etc they don't seem to make tents anymore with porches that we liked. I must I think in the camping world that porches are now no longer stylish.

We have been using 1 tent for 2 adults and 2 teenagers and although a little cramped if you are having to stay under canvas during the daytime, I wouldn't swap it.

The decision has now been made, we've purchased a 2nd hawk - 1 for us and 1 for the children.

We have recently bought one of these and have just had our first weekend away in it. The weather was poor, windy and rainy and our tent handled both very well.

The fully sewn in inner is super for us having young children and a dog that managed to escape from our previous non sewn in tent.

The seperate porch area is ideal for wet, muddy shoes and we even set our camp kitchen up and cooked in there during bad weather whilst closing the door to the main areas keeping the children away from the stove.

The bedroom pods can be folded away during the day so more space for the kids to play on those rainy afternoons.

It doesn't take long to errect this tent, probably about 20 mins plus guys and once the inner is up we pop the kids in so know they are safe whilst we do the outer.

As it is fully sewn in it is bug free (yey) and limited draughts.

Only drawback is if it is heavy rain on arrival the inner would get wet until you get the flysheet on but just cross your fingers for dry weather lol.
