4 Reviews of the Montpellier 6
By: TheFentonFamily Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2010 Rating:
We bought the Montpellier 6 as our first tent for our very first camping trip as a family. We had got this from a reputable camping seller on eBay for a steal and paid much less than advertised at other camping shops with free delivery.
We then registered with ukcampsite.Co.Uk to begin planning our trip, reading the reviews of various campsites and areas. We came upon the tent review section regarding our tent and instantly began worrying about our purchase! It was our first camping trip with a 1 month old baby and a 6 year old and obviously we needed this to be hassle free.
We need not have worried as this tent was wonderful! I erected the tent with only the help of our 6 yr old within 20 mins - everything was packed with easy to use distinguishable parts and clear instructions.
We had glorious weather the first day but the tent did not feel hot or claustrophobic at night. It had amazing space for us too. Our 6 yr old had his own bedroom compartment where he could fit all his games and a single air bed and our area had plenty of room for a double airbed, moses basket and baby bag. There was also another bedroom which we used as a storage area for our body boards, cases, food/cool box etc. The living space was very large and airy and tall enough to stand in.
There was stormy weather the next night but this did not matter. The tent did not create much flapping noise as described in the other reviews and was bone dry inside in the morning - we all slept like logs! Bearing in mind we were on Anglesey with a newborn baby this was a fantastic feat!
We stayed in our tent for 4 nights all in all and loved every minute of it. We weren't in a particularly sheltered spot and the weather was not brilliant at all times but we had no problems. The only thing we could nick pick about it was a little bit of condensation on the inside of the outer tent above our bedroom compartment on the last morning. This did not come through to the inner tent although when we touched it it felt very cold - but then there was myself and my partner and our daughter sharing this!
There was absolutely no issue packing the Montpellier away either. As you can imagine this may have been a daunting task but I did this on my own within 45 mins and managed to get it all back in the bag!
To wrap this up, we were very happy with this tent. It provided a wonderful (bargain) holiday for the 4 of us with no problems and certainly would recommend it to our friends.

We were initially impressed with the layout of the tent especially the large living area. However after several uses we had a series of faults. In windy weather the living area has too much unsupported span and tends to flap a lot especially in gusty wind. We suffered leakage from the main seams and the tops of the windows in wet weather. Earlier this year we suffered from water coming up through the weave of the SIG. Referred our problems to Somerset Camping who were very supportive and offered us a full refund, repair or exchange. We have taken advantage of the exchange and upgraded to an Outwell Montana 6. Full marks to Somerset Camping.

Found this tent fairly easy to put up on my own, only 20 mins, less with another adult.
During the summer hols put it up on a exposed site in wind which made it more difficult had to have another adult help.
Slept 2 single parent families very comfortably, although condensation was a problem, very water proof.

We bought this for a first trip, in the rain. A bit broke off when putting up the sleep compartment, which was fiddly! It leaked, a lot, and flapped in the slightest wind. Poles broke on the 2nd use and we decided to take it back for a refund as other parts were starting to tear as well. We paid not much extra for a better and different make. The layout worked well but we weren't impressed with the quality.
