4 Reviews of the Perpignan 6
By: Babylomas0107 Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2012 Rating:
Purchased in july 2012 from JR LEISURE used it 4 weekends each for 2 nights. Sat july 27th was the first time it was subject to rain as it was late we went to bed and woke in water everywhere leaked soaking our bed, electrics food and clothing. We ended up packing up and heading home at 5-30 a.M. The previous nights were brilliant we contacted JR LEISURE on return who told us the warranty had expired but gave us an Email address to send Photos of the damage. It turned out to be false. I re-submitted the request to them but no reply and cant cant get in touch with wynnster. Word of warning on first time putting this tent up apply waterproofer to be on the safe side and don't purchase from JR LEISURE because once they've had your money they don't want to know

This is our second family tent, and we purchased after seeing one pitched next to us on a holiday last summer.
We were looking to upgrade but are very particular with what we need in terms of a tent, and have viewed literally dozens and dozens without finding the one for us.
We are a Family of 3, 2 adults and a teenage daughter, and we like to use out tent to 'live in' rather than just as a base, so we need/want one with a good size living area, and we also cook and wash up inside as well, so living room is of the utmost importance.
It is a tunnel style tent with the thicker 19mm reinforced steel poles on the outside of the tent, making it very sturdy. It takes around 20 minutes to put up, excluding the guy ropes of which there are many, again adding to the sturdy feel once erected.
Once up the inside area is 450cm width by 500cm depth, with an integral front porch that adds approx another 100cm at the front. There are 2 bedroom compartments one to sleep 2 people and the other 2 sleep 4, the larger one has a divider to split the bedroom in half.
We use the divider and then what is now the 3rd bedroom as a changing room.
Head height is 215cm, with the inner roof lining fitted, so plenty tall enough, even for 6 footers, but beware if you are small, fitting the roof lining could become a near impossibility. And there is an internal hook with cable clips along the roof for an electric light to be fitted.
There are 3 large Windows at the front of the tent, 1 built into the door and 1 either side at the front edge that again are on the large side, allowing loads of light into the tent. The side windows have fly mesh fitted to allow for ventilation and can be opened either half way or fully as required.
Towards the back of the tent, there are vents on each side near the top, that can be opened and closed as required, and also 2 large vents (window style) behind the bedrooms.
Overall there are 3 doors, the main one at the front and one either side via zipped sides that can be help up with poles. One of the doors doesn't have guy ropes attached for some reason, so we had to buy extra for this, and we usually use the side door on fine days, leaving the front closed as a window, unless exceptionally hot.
At the front of the tent is a porched area that is an integral part of the tent, but can be tied back if not required, however we find it useful with mats fitted as an area to remove shoes etc.
The whole tent has a fully sewn in groundsheet, ensuring it stays nice and dry, and the door access areas have the facility to fold down the groundsheet flat for easier access, there are 2 electric access zips, one either side of the tent near to the side doors.
It has fully taped in seams, which did however leak very slightly on first use, but have since sealed them and no further problems.
The only real downsides we have found to this tent is the lack of availability of the Footprint and Carpet. The company is now part of Khyam, but neither company can supply either of these, we have purchased a carpet for another model that fits great, but still cannot find a footprint for it.
The doors both front and sides flapped about a lot in windy conditions, but we have since added some velcro strips to them and this has cured the problem.
And finally we have split the poles from the main tent bag into 2 separate bags, as the poles themselves are exceptionally heavy, and it also makes putting away the main tent a lot simpler.
However despite these few niggles, we would still rate this tent as 9 out of 10, as it suits our need perfectly, and can be put up and dismantled in 20-30 minutes.
If you are looking for a large family tent to actually live in with plenty of room, and don't want to spend £500+ you could do a lot worse than consider the Wynnster Perpignan 6.

Why hasn't everyone got one? we bought the £299 package with carpet and footprint, unbelievable value, so much tent for the money. We have had a wynnster eagle 6 since 2000, fantastic little tent(tents you could stand in were not the thing back then, had several outings a year all over the country and withstood everything the lakes and NE coat could throw at it, but did finally suffer a bit on the Bridlington coast due to our makeshift extension blowing away(somebodys caravan blew over, it was quite breezy)- so we thought we'd upgrade to suit the needs of larger family. Our 2 children could each bring a friend and there would still be plenty of room. So far we all sleep in the large 4 bedroom without using the divider as children still small and use the 2 person separate one as a dressing room- what luxury.
The main revelation was the double layer roof skin- no damp, no chill, so simple- love it. Combined with carpet it is a luxury 3-bed bungalow.Love the windows, after a wet week in wales we really appreciated the conservatory feeling, not a bit like being shut in. Plenty of room for a Kitchen corner, children playing and him indoors reading the paper witout getting underfoot- a real week-long tent, suitable for family sites not mountainsides.
As with all big tents, roof boxes become a necessity, and drying /folding away at home a bit of a chore,so nipping away for a weekend not its best feature but the build quality and thoughtful features far exceed anything else we've researched under £600+, (in fact saw a lot in the £700 region that didnt work as well for us as this)and strength should withstand anything the east coast winds can throw- you will need extra heavy duty pegs as only supplied with round wire ones, and def needs 2 people to erect, but very sraightforward and quick.
Oh and if you are only 5 foot high like me you may need a 6'2' partner to reach the hooks and zip up the door, not everyone requires such luxurient headroom.
I think with a bit of jiggling many of the separate canopies on the market would fit to extend the outside space should you need it, integral canopy small but fine and can be rolled back in high winds easily.
Love it and cant wait for the new 2012 season, managed 3 trips last summer, 4 booked already for this. If there is any of these left on the market snap them up- two families we know saw ours and went and bought one on the strength on it.BARGAIN!

I have recently purchased this tent after seeing the amazing offer, tent, carpet and groundsheet for £300!
It is a fab tent, I'm 6ft2 and I've got loads of head room both in the main tent and the sleeping part. The front canopy isn't that large but its better than tents I've had before.
The tent will sleep 6 adults quite easily and I reckon if the weather was nice you could get a further two on an air bed in the living area too!
The tent has three doors, front, side left and right, and allows you to open tops of windows without letting bugs in as there is a screen.
The only problem we found with this tent is the sheer size of it and heaviness of the poles, which split the pole bag as they were too heavy, and the back of the tent seems to sag which is no good in strong winds, we are also going to buy some velcro and Velcro the doors as some draught later came in at night. The tent has plenty of space in it and with the carpet is a lot warmer, there are hooks to hang up a light and cable, and a zipped hole to thread your ehu through too.
All in all I would recommend this tent to everyone!
