4 Reviews of the Coastline 3 Plus
By: Xbob Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2017 Rating:
This Coleman product is RUBBISH. I bought a coastline 3 to replace a much loved Coleman Bi Space 300 which was the best tent I ever owned.
I am a regular camper and used the Bi Space in wales and Ireland on several trips.
I used the coastline first up at Turner Hall in the Lakes in October last year.
I had just a couple of nights and the second night was wet, but not too windy.
Even then, the door zips leaked.
I could see that this tent was a reasonable design, but the side doors were a disaster and would have been much better with two vertical zips and a mesh inner like the Bi Space.
The build quality was poor and skimped.
The storm flaps over the zipper track were pathetic and thoughtlessly put together.
Frankly, I had no confidence in this tent from then on.
I went up to Turner Hall (Brilliant site) last Wednesday, intending to stay over the bnank holiday.
The weather turned really foul later in the evening and it rained solidly for half the night.
The wind got up too.
I'd tossed up between midge hell and breezy in pitching the tent, but didn't contend with the severe billowing the tent displayed.
Rain poured through the zipper tracks and at 2.0 am, I decided to abandon, up sticks and drive the 50 miles home.
Coleman aren't interested and Argos offered a pro rata refund of £12.99.

I bought this tent due to my last tent being a Coleman, which was cracking, survived all manner of weather, even the tail end of a hurricane. The coastline plus 3 on the other hand leaked everywhere on the first night of light drizzle. Every point where the outer tent was attached to the inner tent leaked. The stitching is generally poor with treads hanging out here and there. I also found two hot glue holes in the roof of the fly sheet. Also found when packing it away that the material where the poles go through had nearly warn through from the guy ropes rubbing, the wind had been light but constant. I used my last tent for six years with no problem. This one had such bad build quality. Its a shame because its a great size tent for my and my girlfriend, I can't stand up in it but that was my fault for not checking the measurements. Very easy to put up. Took about ten minutes, bath tub ground sheet is great and the three door entrance is great too. I can even get it back in the bag easily. I must have just been really unlucky. Sending it back and going for a different make, either Vango icarus 500 or Outwell cape coral S.

Bought this tent to do a 9 day motorcycle tour of Scotland.
Can't fault the tent at all. It withstood 60mph+ winds, torrential downpours and freezing temperatures (yes, that's what Scotland was like May 2015!) without a problem.
The bag it came in is a bag of spanners and I quickly binned it for a waterproof roll bag.
Apart from that, a cracking tent worth every penny.

I have just had the opportunity to try this tent out for the first time whilst on a motorcycle trip. First impressions are good. Plenty of room in the sleeping area and a generous living space. The inner bedroom pod can be left in place when the tent is put away, which makes it quicker to erect the next time you use it. However, lower pod fixings are plastic hooks so can easily disconnect, clips would have been more sensible. But this isn't a problem once pitched and it is only a very minor quibble. A bathtub groundsheet, for the living area, was provided with the tent but this wasn't needed as the ground was dry. I think this will be a bonus for rainy camping trips. The three door openings mean you can change the entrance round if the wind/rain changes direction and the poles included can be used to make the front door into an awning. Well designed and quality materials/workmanship. The side door zips are double ended, which I found useful, being able to partially open the door from the top like a window yet retaining some privacy.
Nagatives: zippers can be a bit awkward going round corners; windows have no curtains so contents can easily be seen; as is often the case, the carry bag isn't very generous so it can be a little awkward getting the tent packed away.
Positives: quick to pitch; one person can pitch it; plenty of storage for luggage; plenty of ventilation.
