Brilliant tent, why have they discontinued it??? We use it for a family of four, plenty of space plus you can stand up in it.We can put it up in around 30 mins. Sturdy, simple design, easy to pack away.No complaints.Hope it lasts forever. Really what else can we say? Carry bag, 2 separate pods.Lovely

We've just bought the Coleman Lakeside 4 and used it this weekend for the first time. Out of the bag and fully usable in less than 30 mins. The carbon fibre and steel poles anchor with ring and pins and once the guy ropes are set this is a very stable tent. It now has a sewn in groundsheet and 2 doors rather than the original 3. The bedroom areas are more than enough when used by 2 and are adequate for 4. The living area is pleasingly large and doesn't feel cramped at all.

It rained (surprise surprise) but the tent coped admirably. No leaks and a happy time was had by all.

Brought to replace a 6 man oggie tent due to only 2 of us using it now. Easy to pitch, did watch the video online 1st which made it very easy. Plenty of room inside, even for me at 6'2'. We sleep in one bedroom and use the other as a walk-in wardrobe. Ample room for 2 chairs and table in living area. Didn't have any bad weather,(honest)so cant comment on the rain coming in but didn't have any draughts, even though a bit windy.

Overall brilliant tent.

Good points. Great tent up and down in 15 minutes, we stitched the bedroom compartments into one as it was only for the two of us. Holds up well to all weathers. Not complicated as all poles and fly sheet are colour coded. Nice large front window with curtain.

Bad points. Very draughty, all doors slope in so when it rains you have to keep doors closed. Would be nice to get a canopy to fit. Large living area that you can stand in, all in all we love this tent

Great height and plenty of living space. The bedrooms are big enough to fit a double inflatable mattress but not a lot else. We especially like the fact that the bedrooms have a selection of pockets on the front, perfect for keys, torches etc.

Easy to put up and take down.

We used this when it was particularly windy, and found that the sides had a tendency to flap quite loudly. Also, sitting in the porch area at night it got quite cold as the wind comes straight in under the sides.

Not sure you can buy these any more but I bought one last year and it has served us very well.

We have a large 12 berth Vango tent for longer trips (a week or more) but got fed up with the time taken to pitch it when just going for weekends etc.

This is where the Lakeside 4 comes into its own. From bag to fully pitched by one person in calm weather (2 people if it's a windy) in less than 20 minutes - simple as that.

The living area is large and tall for a tent of this size and the bedrooms comfortably sleep our family of 4 - kids in one room, us in the other.

My only criticism is that the side doors let in the rain when you open them because of the angle of the sides of the tent i.E. It runs off the roof and lands about 6 inches into the tent.

I would fully recommend though!

This is our first family tent and we have been very pleased with it. It is very easy to put up and has plenty of room in the living area with a good head height. We have had our foldable picnic table with attached chairs in the living area in bad weather and there is still room to move about without feeling squashed. The bedrooms are also high enough to stand up in and each one has enough room for 2 ready beds and our bag of clothes (in a laundry type bag)at the end. The canopy opens up at the front and we use this together with a windbreak for cooking under. We were camping at the May Bank Holiday weekend in Devon and it was very rainy and windy but the Lakeside didn't budge. We got a tiny bit of water in under the tent at the front but this was just rain that had blown in under the tent and onto a bit of the groundsheet as it doesn't have a SIG. We are now looking to upgrade to a larger tent as we would like a SIG and also a porch area as the groundsheet does tend to get muddy in the wet weather as nowhere to take your shoes off. On the whole we think the Lakeside is a great starter tent for a family of 4. It is easy to pack away and the bag is not too big. We paid £99 for this tent in 2006 and we think it was great value for money.

This was the first family tent that I bought. I chose it because it was inexpensive, adults could stand up straight in both the living area and the bedrooms and because of the reputable brand.

The good internal height is due to it being a tunnel tent, with steel upright poles and fibreglass roof poles. As others have commented, it is simple to pitch and, at a pinch, one adult could pitch it so long as the weather is calm.

There are a total of three doors that gain you access to the living area of the tent; useful should the wind-direction change. The two bedrooms are completely separate. Two adults can fit in each bedroom on a double inflatable mattress so long as any rucksacks were left in the living area over night.

I have been fortunate enough only to use it in fair weather but I get the impression that it is sturdy enough to withstand strong winds. However, because the living area does not have a SIG, sitting in there on a cold, wet and windy evening would not be an attractive prospect. Also, the fitted groundsheet that is supplied for the living area is not the most intuitive to set up; we didn’t bother, but we were lucky that the weather didn’t necessitate using it. As it was, we used the living area mostly for storage.

To conclude: for the money this is a good, sturdy, well-made tent which, if having a SIG in the living area is not a priority for you, you should include on your list for consideration.

We bought our Lakeside 4 at the end of 2006 a) to be able to stand upright inside - both of us are tall people, and b) because it is easier to erect than our previous long push-thru poles tent - we are both of the 'older' generation and want to keep on camping as long as we can, and we found the long poles for the tunnel tent an increasing struggle.
We love the head height of the Lakeside and massive living space, with the two separate bedrooms. But the tent comes into its own for us when we go island-hopping on the Cal-Mac ferries in Scotland. We often stop over just one night and don't want to erect it completely with the bedrooms, so we reverse our Citroen Despatch into the front opening, keeping the back doors open, and attach the tent to the van back by our own patent means (clothes pegs, elastics etc) We then sleep in the van, storing our camping gear in the tent. Then, the next morning we are up and packed away quickly.
The only little snag with the tent was when it was VERY windy at Gairloch last year and the living area was very draughty and the tent threatening to take off - this was remedied however by putting large beach stones round the edge to hold the tent bottom down. Our fault for venturing to such windy places!

This is the first tent we have ever brought and for novises it was fairly easy to put up, even in very windy conditions. Main reason for buying over other tents was the large and high living space, much larger than in most 4 man tents.
We were just a couple using the tent and found the tent had ample room, using one bedroom for storage and the other for sleeping. Camped in bad weather and all seemed fine. Occassionally caught the wind when very windy but caused no problems. Great having decent size living space, especially when raining cats and dogs as at least we could sit on chairs and stand inside without having to resort to sitting in the bedroom.
Many experienced campers on the site we went to were very impressed with how it stood up to the weather. Many of their very expensive tents were struggling to say the very least. Overall very impressed and great value for money. There are some cracking deals about on this tent.
