5 Reviews of the Ullswater

As a family of 6, we bough this solely because of the three bedrooms. Reasonably easy to put up, with a couple of people, however this has its downsides.
In heavy rain, the main middle area gets soaked. We had puddles everywhere, even though we had pitched on level ground. This meant everything left in the main part had to be moved into the bedroom pods. Not good. Wouldnt buy anything like this again, totally ruined clothes, bags and our holiday!

I was given this tent and had to replace some of the poles which wasn't a problem, I also checked other reviews for this particular style and was glad I did. Whilst using this tent we did have rain and as stated before we also had rivulets of water running down the cross poles and through the tent groundsheet. I just made sure that everything was clear of these sites. The tent has 3 sleeping pods and each is supposed to sleep 2 but my boys (17&15) did find this a problem so my eldest slept in the centre of the tent. There is just enough room for 4 of us to sit in the centre of the tent when it rained but it meant everything else had to be stored in the sleeping pods. As this tent is second hand (and so I can't be sure of the year!)it has gone a bit askew which meant that the tent itself doesn't fit flush to the ground so some of the tent flapped around. The problems we experienced with the tent did not detract from our holiday though.

As a family of 6, we liked the 3 separate compartments and living area of this tent.
Like the previous comment, one of the drawbacks we found with this tent was that in heavy rain, it let in water. This happened over the main living area and at the corner seams. Like a previous poster, we also found it hard to get the shape of the tent sitting nicely.
Sadly, although we liked the three room arrangement around the central living area, this tent did not stand up to strong winds in our case. After a day of strong winds in the western isles, we had to pack up and go home after not one but three of the tent poles snapped.
A good family tent for good summer weather, but not for the more extreme weather Scotland can throw at us, even in May!

Some poor stitching on the flysheet meant we needed to return/exchange this part. Would agree with previous comments concerning space and gaps at the front. Good for 4 people using 2 bedrooms with the 3rd as a storeroom. The main compartment is not really big enough when the weather is bad. During heavy rain there is also the possibility of rivers running through the main central area so every thing needs to be off the ground or tucked away in 3rd bedroom. Now we have an extra child- space is a problem. We have never managed to set up the tent so that it appears to be even- it is always askew. Last year our pole holding up the entrance snapped.

This was the first tent we bought. We didn't know if we were going to get the camping bug so went for something that looked like good value for money.
It is easy to put up with two people and there is loads of room under the flysheet to get the inners installed out of the weather. However there is a large gap between the flysheet and the ground which is draughty and a problem in the wet on a slope. We never did get the front porch area to pin down properly in shape.
The bedrooms offer plenty of space for 2 people but there is not really enough room for 6 in the main area. It's a good tent for 4 when a bedroom can be used for storage in the daytime.
The main problem was weatherproofing. Although the flysheet didn't leak at all opening the door just to get in and out results in a lot of rain in the main living area. The porch part of the tent could have done with being a bit longer to protect the inside area.
In the wind the tent really held it's own. It remained practically immovable when other tents were blowing across the campsite!
