10 Reviews of the Cadiz 5
By: Vonny600 Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2008 Rating:
We are very fond of our Cadiz 5 mainly because it is so easy to pitch and pack up. (Just like a maxi size hike tent.) Max 15-20mins to put up now we know it well. We have used it in all types of weather and it has performed brilliantly for what it is. I quite like the height of the sleeping area - very useful for changing clothes and I'm far too old and creaky to hunch over as I would've done 10 or 20 years ago! We've had bed-chairs in the sleeping section with room to spare - it is roomier than a lot of the sleeping sections in the newer tunnel tents.
Our kids have been spoilt by using this as a festival tent. At 12.5kg, you can still lug it across camping fields and the porch area offers good storage for wellies/chairs, etc. It wasn't too expensive to buy and we've more than got our money's worth from it. We're not too precious about it either like we would be with a more pricey tent. Only the second time I took it to a festival, some twit camped behind us dropped a steel pole through our fly sheet - aaargh! anyway, after a not very pretty, but effective repair, all was well again and it never has leaked. We have a 2 berth transit-style campervan and our Cadiz 5 lives in this and gets used instead of an awning if there's more than 2 of us camping. It's given us many years of happy camping & it will be a sad day when it gets retired!

Have only used this tent twice and that is twice too much :( I love camping but when you have no room to move about very well it can be a nightmare and it was for us. We are only a couple (no family yet) but we still found it a squeeze. Struggled to find a bed to fit cause a standard double is not suitable for us and I need a raised bed due to back problems and we do need a a king but it does not fit. The inside bedroom is 7ft by 6ft while the living room is 7ft by 4 ft sounds big on paper and even when its up with nothing in looks big but in reality once you start putting bits inside like bed, clothing, cooking items, chairs and small table you cannot move :( roll on buying a caravan :)

Borrowed this tent from friends, good for a few days but could of done with a bit more space for storage.
Even though this is 5 man , more comfortable for 3 ,tight squeeze to get a double and 2 single airbeds so double went in living area which meant being eaten by midges as this has a separate groundsheet.
After heavy rain did find a small amount of water at the edge of sleeping pod, I think it may have been touching the outer skin during the night.
But having said that had a good stay.
Not sure about the year as we borrowed this tent.

Great tent for an adult couple. Easy to put up and down. Not quite high enough in porch area when it's raining as you do not want to touch the top of the tent in case rain seeps through (not too sure if this would happen but we did not want to chance it). Handy carry case is a plus, very neat and easy to store.
Looked at new tents the other day just out of curiosity and would certainly buy the same tent again.

Likes:
- really easy to put up, even for a novice like me!
- withstands strong winds and keeps you dry in pouring rain
- packs down to a really amazing size, easy to carry 'case'
- doesn't take up much space on the ground
Dislikes:
- not really a five adult tent. Two adults and Two children is a bit of a squeeze, especially if its wet and you are 'living in'

This is my fourth tent purchase, getting larger tents each time. Great value for money, easy to erect, plenty of space. I was surprised at the size and functionality of this tent for the price (£59). An absolute bargain.

Our first tent and first trip this week saw the Gelert Cadiz 5 take all that was thrown at it.
Probably because I am useless it took us over an hour and a half to put it up the first time this week, we mainly found that it was very hard to thread the poles through the material but once we had done that it was done in about 40 minutes.
We were lucky that we pitched it in fine weather but that was not to last and by the next day and for a few days after we had torrential rain thrown at us.
Through some very heavy driving rain we never felt that the tent was going to let us down, and after the first full night of rain the sleeping areas were completely dry and the inner parts of the living area were damp on touch but this could be with a mixture of condensation but nothing to worry about.
When we got up we inspected the the ropes and pegs and all were perfectly still anchored as originally placed and these were the steel pegs that came with the tent.
Due to the poor weather we found that we spent quite a bit of time in the front living area and this was ok for 4 people for a few days but would not like to be in there for a full weeks wet camp.
So I think this tent is very good and once I get used to it I think it will go up a lot quicker and I also think that really it is helpful if there is two people to put it up but would be possible for one person and very little wind to do.
Putting it away was easy and we got it back in the bag with no trouble at all and it dried out very quickly.
Very Happy!

This is the 2nd Gelert tent we bought, we have used it on several occasions and we have been very happy with it. The carry case is sturdy smart and practical its 3-pole dome construction makes it easy to pitch and very sturdy, as usual with stated berths 5 people would be VERY cosy! there is one big bedroom pod that can be sub-divided with a toggle-in partition, as per the other review the bedroom is higher than the living space!
Only supplied with short cheap pegs I have put together a 'travel bag' with a variety of pegs/puller/mallet that I take with all our tents (we seem to be collecting them! This tent stands up to rain and wind very well and has not leaked once I wouldn't pay the full R.R.P. For it, we got it for about £65 the people who got it for £20 had a real bargain!

I have just purchased this last week as end of line stock at halfords for £20 (17 with hubby discount ) and I am so happy with it ! I have never put up a tent before (not even a wendy house lol) and we did it quite easy and fast, we were shocked of how big it was for the money. I'm 5.1 and hubby 5.3 so in our midget world the height was perfect. My 5.10 sister did not have a problem either ! We did a one nighter in the garden to see if kids would enjoy it and ended up sleeping 3 adults and 4 kids easy. 2 double air beds fit the bedroom side by side and leaves the width of a single along the bottom. We did get condensation too in the living area but with all those bodies it was to be expected. It did rain and was fine ! This is a lot to be said from me (I was a I'm never going to be seen dead in a tent ) I have a huge bug phobia and took 8 years of nagging to try it. I am now seeing a camping holiday in the near future thanks to this tent !

Our first tent, bought (for approx £60 in 2005)to see if we would take to camping. Although we have outgrown this tent we will continue to use it for short stays or when pitching solo.
Plus sides:
*Very easy to pitch, just three poles and she's up
*Seems to be very sturdy, withstood gale force winds and torrential rain for four days.
*Roomy bedroom with SIG. Ample room for two adults and two children and a bit of room spare for clothes etc.
*Storm flaps in front living area work well to keep out rain and drafts.
Down sides:
*Not enough height in the living area, standing room in bedroom though (a bit back to front if you ask me)
*Condensation a bit of a problem, but that's to be expected with four people in a small area.
*No SIG in living area, but that's a personal choice isn't it?
To conclude, we have had maximum enjoyment from this tent despite it being too small for us. The ease of pitching and re-packing have helped to make us definite campers now and so we have a lot to thank it for. This tent would be perfect for two people for short stays.
