I must have been lucky as the Gelert Horizon 8 tent I own is a great tent, still very water-proof.Looking forward to using the tent in the future. This week I have pitched the tent in my garden to check how the tent is performing and so far even with rain on it all day yesterday no leaks occurred ,the tent was bone dry inside. The footprint ground sheet is good for protecting the tent. The porch is lovely for cooking and storage.

Needing an upgrade to a bigger tent to accommodate the ever growing family I thought this would be ideal, its huge and we also bought the porch extension to make it even bigger unfortunately this is were the plus points end. Now if I lived in an area with 0% rain this tent would be ideal but I don't I live in the UK were it rains every time I go camping and generally blows a gale. Despite Gelert's claims this tent is not waterproof it leaks like a sieve, on ours the rain came in through the seams where the poles are threaded, when this happened on our first trip out I took the tent back to the store and was told it needed weathering and was probably condensation, needless to say the next trip we were subjected to the mother of all storms and water came in again through the seams and the high winds flattened the tent splitting 3 of the poles despite all the guy ropes been used properly. I have since sent the tent to be waterproofed which didn't make the slightest bit of difference, I will never buy a Gelert tent again.

Warning - we do not use this tent in wet weather as it leaks badly - as others have mentioned. I am surprised that Gelert havent offered a return/replacement on this model given the extremely poor quality. We bought ours off a friend who had used it once in dry weather so we had no warning. I will never buy any Gelert products after our experience and clearly ours isn't a one off. I am extremely surprised that some people have stayed dry. We are currently applying waterproofing in an attempt to get some use as we cannot afford another tent.

We have used this tent, along with the porch, every year since buying it, it has kept us dry on many a night (even during the hurricane). Plenty of room for everyone for our family holiday.

The tiny issue we have is whether to buy another one as our old trustful friend got damp in our garage over the winter (no idea how) and grew mould. Have tried to clean it etc but with no joy. Gutted

I bought this tent second hand. The previous owner said they'd used it once before and after erecting it I had no reason to doubt their claim. It's very roomy and I thought this would be a great tent as it had a 3000 HH water rating as well. Then it rained. I'd say this tent is showerproof as it kept a five minute downpour out but when the rain came and stayed for many hours, the tent started leaking and over the course of an hour got progressivly worse. After reading some of the other reviews about its watertightness I have to agree. I won't say it's a waterproof as a bed sheet but mine certainly isn't waterproof. It would be a great tent if it kept the rain out but it doesn't.

3 stars because it's roomy and would be great if you pitch-up for a week and it doesn't rain. There do seem to be some good ones out there after reading some of the reviews but it seems to be so hit-and-miss that I'd say avoid it and get something else.

I had similar experience with this tent, horrendous, was bought brand new in 2013 but as I was poorly couldn't use it that year and only used it when went to the f1 in 2014, hadn't been out of the wrapper previous to that, well when it rained was soaked along with all my stuff, neither gelert nor retailer would refund my money as said it was out of guarantee even though it was first time out of bag, so I seam sealed it, waterproof sprayed it, still had the problem the next time although not as much, it would've been a lovely tent otherwise, easy to erect, spacious, but unfortunately not waterproof, and im stuck with it now, so just hope it doesn't rain this year

If I could give it a 0 out if 10 I would. Bought this tent approx 5 years ago but only slept in a max of 8 times over the years. First time. I've used it in the rain this weekend and oh my god.We were all soaking! 4 am and we all woke up covered in rain. The tent was like a shower! Our quilts, food, bbq, electric hook up,clothes and my matching gelert carpet were drenched! At 5 am we just grabbed our quilts and valuables and drove the hour home! Needles to say the 4 kids we had with us weren't happy being woken up at that time of the day! We had to return yesterday morning to go and sort the tent out. There was puddles everywhere,we had to go to the toilet block and get loads of loo roll to try and dry them up but they was as much use as a chocolate tea pot! My carpet is ruined and I'm to scared to use my electric hook up now as when it was raining we had out phone chargers in the sockets and they all got wet. I phoned gelert yesterday morning to be told by a security man that it's closed till Monday! I will be ringing back tomorrow to make a complaint! I used to love the tent.Up until early hours yesterday morning. It's really spacious and perfect for a family but absolutely rubbish in the rain. I'm really dissapointed in the horizon 8. I won't be buying another one.

We LOVE our tent! We have owned other tents before, but this is the best tent we have ever owned. We have just returned from a camping trip and we had torrential rain one day (we were totally dry) and huge gusts of wind one day (we felt totally safe in our tent!)We have loads of space (there are now only two of us in this tent) and our tent always attracts people wanting to talk about it. We love, love, love it!

I love my tent. There are only three of us but we have plenty of room even if we have to put all the bedrooms up. We haven't had problems with leaking and as long as we use the right pegs wind hasn't been an issue. I would recommend this tent for any family. It's easy to put up and down. We have had a couple of broken poles but it has had plenty of use.

We have had our horizon 8 for 4 years now and absolutely love it. Spacious, easy to pitch and put away. We have never had any problems with leaking, and we have used it in some heavy rain. We camped in Cornwall in summer 2012, in horrendous winds. It was one of the few tents still standing the morning after. I'm still to find a tent as good that would make me get rid. The footprint is a godsend. Keeps the tent clean. My only gripe, and its not that bad, the curtains are on the outside, and a
