5 Reviews of the Apollo 500

I have only used the Apollo twice in 2 years. The first trip was 2 nights in good weather. It was put away dry, no issues. Now this trip was pitched ok and woke up to rain.I noticed that just brushing my head against then

Living area roof brought heavy drips onto me. Lying in the bedroom water was dripping onto my foot. Big puddles were developing on the groundsheet in the living area. Now if it was condensation, it was beyond belief. I felt it was beyond condensation and watched and saw drips hitting my feet below the living room fly. Now I expected the whole tent to be waterproof, not just the bedroom fly? It was a hot summer night, cold at 1am and woke to rain.

This is the 2nd Vango tent in this style we have owned and they just seem to get better. The bucket groundsheet is genius and the handy pulls to get the ring pulls out of the poles all make you feel that someone at Vango has listened to what annoys customers and fixed the problems. There are even little velcro clips for the rolled up guidelines so you don't have to do some complicated knot when putting the tent away. We have been through many tents over the years and this is by far the best.

I have just taken this tent out for the first time with my two small children. I managed to put it up myself easily (not quite in the 10 minutes pitch time though!) Agree with previous comments that the instructions arent great! found the tent fairly spacious, managed to fit a double air mattress, travel cot and child travel sleeping bag bed in the bedroom area. Living area is a good sized. I found when coming in and out the side entrance that if there was a rain puddle sitting on the tent roof, it would just spill over and land on your head, I don't know if this is normal or if I needed to adjust the tightness/poles of the tent. Didnt have heavy winds so cant say if it would leak or not, but overall found this tent OK. Would prefer a tent that has standing room in the living space though. Great tent for starting out in the camping world!

The tent is quite good and spacious. As above we thought the instructions for putting it up were not that helpful. We have also have some seepage and leaking in the front. It also seems very tight fit between the inner and outer and we have had a slight tear of the inner. The smaller pole for the porch also shattered and we have had it fixed, after which it did fit much better. However the brass ring in the strap it fit into has now fallen out and so we can no longer use the pole which has affected the structure of the tent! But we'll try to get it fixed too.

Overall great for space and storage. And also very good when it is a bit rainy as you can have the front open with cooking equipment just outside and still cook without getting too wet!

I have just started camping again so don't have tons of experience. This is an easy tent to pitch especially when camping alone. The inner sleep area is snug and with the sewn in ground sheet dry and bug free. The front living area did have some seepage from heavy rain and wind. Instructions not very good. I still don;t fully know how to peg out the front area. Never been able to see the tent in the dark so don't rank the reflective web. No colour coded poles either! But I do love the tent and it has served me well this summer.
