4 Reviews of the Aura 400

Very reliable tent bought for a large discount on the original price. It has withheld two 5 night stays and has kept fully waterproof throughout long bands of rain.

There is standing room in the sleeping area and living area. Only problem is that some of the bag stitching became undone causing us to use the straps to tighten the bag instead of the zip.

An update to my earlier review of this tent unfortunately this tent is no more .This tent was stored for the winter clean and dry , when I came to check it over I found that the material on the two rear pole sleeves was disintegrating so the tent was returned under warranty for a refund ( thanks Amazon ). I have had this pole sleeve problem with other Vango tents so I decided to replace it with an Outwell Birdland 4 .We used the Aura a lot last year (remember the wind and rain ) and it proved to be a very stable and waterproof tent also I think it looked nice .

A good quality family tent, easy to pitch very waterproof and seems to be very strong, it stood up to the wind and rain over the jubilee weekend in west Cornwall with only a half hearted attempt at pegging out. The fully sewn in ground sheet keeps the weather out, but the ventilation seems to still be good enough.

A couple of minor irritations though.

When it rains the slope on the door can let rain trickle down into the tent when you open it or if its left to flap. Easily avoid able but annoying if you forget.

The ground sheet is fully sewn in, excellent at keeping the weather out but when packing away it holds a lot of air, which makes it hard to pack back into the bag, it is possible but takes patience.

I have just purchased this tent at a massive 51% discount ( £120 ), Because this model is no longer in the Vango range footprint and carpet are unavailable , I had to make my own .

Used this tent for the first time last weekend for a trip to the North Cornwall coast , it easily stood up to the strong wind , I cannot comment on it's waterproofing because the weather remained dry .I found the Aura 400 easy to pitch, insert all poles ,put the rear crossover poles in their pins and form the dome , peg out rear two poles, insert tunnel poles into pins , peg out front.Fit all other pegs and clip in inner tent .I put this up on my own while my wife watched !This tent has air vents at the rear and a large one above the front door and smaller ones at the sides , all of which can be open or closed .The embossed flysheet fabric looks smart ,not sure if this has any effect on performance .This is a 4 berth tent and for once I think the manufacturer means it , certainly for short stays .None of the walls slope too much so you can make full use of all the space , with good head height throughout and light from the 4 windows at the front makes this tent very pleasant place to be .My only negative comment concerns the bag , it's far too small , a problem that is easy to solve .
