3 Reviews of the Icarus 500 DLX
By: Helpsav1 Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2017 Rating:
We are a family of 3 and love this tent.
We have camped for 15 days straight twice now, the first in terrible cornish weather where there was high winds and torrential rain.It stood up well especially using the storm straps. We woke in the morning to see a few tents collapsed and huge puddles onsite but all we needed to do was repair one guy line that got ripped.
The second holiday we had a mixture of rain/wind and a heatwave (yes all in 15 days but expected in the UK). Saw a few airbreams collapsed on site but the only fault we found was that the front awning had leaked a bit on the frontal slope. As we had predicted this from other peoples reviews we had pulled the ground sheet and carpet back from near the front doors (to keep them dry). During the heat wave it was fantastic to have the vented side doors to allow air flow through and bugs out !
We camp using 3 x Quechua Inflatable Camping Bed Bases with 10' sims on them.We like a bit of luxury :) This allowed each person a bit of space to get out of bed and get up.
In the main living area we placed our roof box to one side to use for clothes/valuables storage (as it was lockable) and meant that it we didn;t take space up in the bedroom with clothes bags/luggage. We also have a loo/bucket for night time use for the little one if needed.
We purchased the side awning to use as a kitchen area, leaving the front awning to use as dining/living room. This also allowed us to put our child to bed but have space between us and her without disturbing her with lighting or noise whilst we played cards.
Overall we have been very happy with this tent and are considering on purchasing a Air beam one just so I can go camping for the weekend on my own with our child (6yrs old) without the struggle of trying to get a poled tent up alone.

Excellent tent, sound in stormy weather, only downside is angled front is a pain when it rains. I notice on the airbeam version they have fitted a small porch, sorted. As others have said it's well equipped, with lots of room. Mesh doors on all entrances, a boon on hot nights abroad. This tent is easy to put up and take down and pack away.We are very pleased with this tent and would recommend it to all small families.

This tent is fab I will in time buy the porch footprint and carpet we needed a dry new tent away and cant fault it
Its three poles to put up and the bedrooms clip in inside and to the floor
Tent withstood 40 mph winds and torrential rain think this was helped by the storm straps
The tent has lots of pockets for straps windows and doors to be put in when not using them
The bedrooms are a big area which you can zip up to have space the bigger side can take a queensize self inflating airbed and the smaller a blow up double
