10 Reviews of the Kasari 800
By: Pablodiablo1 Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2011 Rating:
Purchased this tent as I was impressed at the amount of room in the sleeping pods and the large central living area.
Just come back from two weeks in the new forest and although we had a lot of heavy rain during the night on a few occasions, this tent held its own and we never found anything we could complain about.
This is an ideal family tent and doesn't take to much effort or time to erect providing there are two of you.

I bought this tent because we liked the layout, rather than a tunnel tent, and we weren't disappointed. There is loads of space, particularly if you don't use the 3rd bedroom, which then gives you and additional door. The tent seems waterproof and windproof. It's great that it is so high and the skylights with covers give it an even bigger feel.

In addition to my earlier review from June. The tent has recently been subjected to very stormy wet weather and high winds. The tent stood up very well to the wind and rain. There were a few spots of water came through the roof but compared to the amount of rain that came down this was very good. I was very please and feel confident that is can stand up well in storms. We did use all the guy ropes and pegged down well. I can not comment if they are not all used.

Just returned from a family trip to The New Forest where we gave this tent (and extension) it's maiden voyage. In fact it was almost quite literally a voyage as the campsite we stayed at (Hollands Wood) was flooded by rain on an almost biblical scale! I have to say though that the tent performed remarkably well. As this was our first time pitching the tent, it took almost 2 hours from 'boot to beer'. The most time consuming part being pegging down the huge number of guy ropes. With the benefit of experience (and dryer weather), I'm sure we could get pitching time down to an hour. Overall, I would thoroughly recommend the Kasari 800. It's a fabulous tent with plenty of room and performs extremely well in even the most demanding of conditions.

We have upsized from a Khyam 6 berth tunnel tent to the Kasari 800 partly for the space and partly for one easier to put up. This did not dissapoint.
Easy to put up with colour coded poles. Even goes up easy in the wind, just had to hold on a few times!
The tent is heavy so we used our old tent bag to carry the poles seperatly.
Bedroom and living space is vast. The 2 smaller rooms were used for kids singles with plenty of room for their bed and room to play. The larger bedroom fit a double air bed, dog crate and storage cupboard with room to change clothes privately.
Living space fit storage cupboard and fridge with room for 4 chairs and a table in the evening. I can not fault the size of this tent. The only down side is that some sites may charge more.
Plenty of storage pockets in the bedroom and 6 small pockets in the living area. This was enough for us.
The tent gets very hot in full sun. We did not make full use of the side door ventilation but will definitely use next time.
My only thing that could be better is to have a small canopy outside the main door. I know there is an add on canopy but it is very big and would take up a lot of room on the pitch.
Would definitely recommend this tent.

I love this tent, bought it last year as my old tent was only a four berth (for 5 of us). First holiday was a breeze, the tent was easy to put and take down (in the rain), plenty of living space and sleeping area. Well ventilated with vents and two doors, love the skylight, sewn in groundsheet and electric hook up zip. Only criticism would be more windows as I have grown up in frame tents with windows/openings in all directions but thats not a deal breaker. Would recommend this tent without a doubt.
Few points
1 Some sites charge extra for a tent of this size
2 Is easier to carry bag with poles removed (makes a surprising amount of difference)
3 have very small footprint for guy ropes as most fit into corners of the tent
4 Privacy fabric for sleeping pods is really effective
5 BUY IT, BUY IT, BUY IT

I bought this tent in July 2011 and have used it twice since, once on a forest holiday in the forest of Dean and a week later in Tiddenham Chase. It is surprisingly easy to put up, and it takes longer to string the guy ropes than anything else. The bedrooms are spacious and this is the reason I bought it. The two side rooms fit a double bed and the other room fits two cougle quilts side by side, although I did not fit the second bedroom but used it as extra living space. It is HUGE. No rough camping here, this is luxury. Youg get out of bed into a spacious living room. When it is sunny and hot (which it wasn't when we went camping due to the wet and windy British weather. If it were sunny, the one bedroom area has an awning to create a through draught. The window at the top is nice and there is ample ventilation zips. It rained big time, and the wind blew and blew - yet this tent passed with flying (thought not literally) colours.
It is heavy - and if you are like me - numbers mean little to me until I have to try and lift it. However, I would advise to carry the pegs and the main body of the tent separately. This does ease the burden. As for the 20 minute pitch time, maybe if you are a pro, although I was a complete newbie, the first time an hour and a half! the second time 45 minutes, although I did not rush myself, made a cup of tea halfway through! Hope this is informative. Be aware that although I was not charged as a jumbo pitch, it does fall into that category and this could be the case if you are unlucky.

We have just come back from a 2 week holiday in Cantabria, Spain - one week on the coast and another up in the Pico de Europa mountains. We had a Vango Vista for many years and after 13 happy years decided to upgrade. With older children now we decided to go 'BIG'! I agree with the above comments - we knew it would weigh 30kg but picking it up 'in the flesh' is something else! Having said that we fitted this (plus a small fridge) into our VW Passat Estate (our 1st ever electric hook up!). It coped well in sun and rain and when it did rain it was great to have the internal space. The only down side is that it only JUST fitted onto pitches in Spain and we were definitely the biggest tent on both (big) sites. Lots of people coming up to chat! Fortunately we'd had a dry run in the garden before our holiday so the 1 hour 1st attempt was reduced to 45mins (especially with an audience in the scorching sun!). The kids loved it and we just hope sites in the UK can accommodate it as it's here to stay!

I bought this tent to ensure that my growing brood of grandchildren would have a holiday in this recession. I wanted a tent like a house, with room to sleep eight comfortably and which was stable in wind and waterproof in rain. I also wanted height in order to walk around without stooping. This did not disappoint.
The many vents ensured ventilation, the sleeping compartments were ample. The smaller two fitted a double airbed, and the larger fitted two airbeds side by side, with a dividing curtain if needed. The smaller pods had a string from which you could suspend clothing (which I thought was neat). The poles were colour co-ordinated which made it easy to erect. The main pod had a skylight window - and it had a zipped hole through which you could insert an electric hook up (although I didn't),
The bag was very heavy, although it was described as such, I didn't realise how heavy that would be), but considering the palatial dimensions, I should have expected it. If I were being nit-picky, I would have liked tightening straps to wrap around the tent when putting it back in it's bag.
All in all, I have come back from a small break with high winds, torrential rain and it neither leaked, nor blew away. At one time my entire family visited and we sat comfortably in the middle room, six adults and four grandchildren, with ease. You cannot ask more than that.

Pros:
1. The tent comes in a handy one bag fits all approach. This contains 3 compartments split for the flysheet the poles/pegs and the pods. It does weigh 30.3Kg though.
2. Poles use the ring and pin system and are colour coded to match the sleeves on the flysheet.
3. Pods are also colour coded although not really needed as it is obvious which pod goes where. The pods are very big and can accommodate double air beds. The larger one can hold two of these.
4. Storage is good in the pods with multiple pockets around them.
5. The height inside the dome may be a problem for those over 7 foot tall but for the rest of us its plenty.
6. The pods have Vangos' blackout feature which the occupants can open without opening the whole pod up. This when open allows air to circulate into pods better.
Cons:
1. Storage in the dome itself is poor with two removable pockets mounted high on dome Walls either side of the entrance.
2. For those of us that need it, this tent only has one port for inserting an electric hook up cable through. This is situated on the side wall of the largest pod
3. The only problem in the build of this tent are the plastic karibiner style clips for the base of the internal pods. These are a little fiddly to remove when packing up.
It took approximately 1hr and 15 mins to fully erect although I reckon on my second attempt it will be nearer 45 mins. I have bought the carpet for this tent which due to one of the internal pods being a second entrance covers this pod too. I intend to get the canopy extension for this and will update accordingly.
