4 Reviews of the Tigris 600XL

As just a couple (no kids) this tent is fantastic as it gives plenty of room for sleeping and lounging about during a rainy day. As my other half is 6'2' tall, he loves being able to stand up to get dressed, which makes all the difference to him. The Vango is great in both wind & rain with plenty of light due to the large windows. As ongoing Vango tent owners, we would recommend any Vango tent new or second hand.

I have just come back from my first outing in the Tigris 600XL!

What a tent very impressed, the lay out is awesome with good ventilation and space!

Unfortunately for me the weather was a bit rubbish, but was a good test for the tent.

All in all I was able to erect the tent solo and passed in my mind with flying colors!

We bought a Vango Tigris 600XL last year and bought the side canopy earlier this year.

We use it for our family of 4 with 2 young children. I hadn't camped for a while but used to do lots as a kid and before getting married and been impressed with Vango force 10s surviving a brutal December night in the Welsh mountains whilst on a D of E expedition with 4 of us in it after the other tent was shredded so was attracted to the brand.

We were looking for a tent that was big enough for a week away but easy to use for a short weekend away. This tent does both very well for us and is easy to put up especially if there are 2 of you and is roomy enough for our needs. We are aren't close to the 20 mins suggested time but that is probably a reflection of having to keep an eye on 2 young children at the same time!

We have used it it during some pretty torrential and at times windy conditions without any mishap and are very happy with the quality of it.

The canopy offers useful storage but is for fair weather only as its design allows a large puddle to form on the top in heavy rain and also billows in any wind. We have just spent a week in Cornwall but didn't get it out of the car as it was quite windy, but we had enough space in the tent for all our gear though we don't cook inside.

All in all a very good quality and useable tent.

We recently purchased this tent as part of a package from Field and Trek - the usual discounting from RRP allowed us to also purchase the matching carpet to fit the tent as well. Used for the first time this weekend, albeit in almost perfect camping conditions of sunny weather and clear skies.

Setting up and putting down the tent was fairly straightforward, taking about 40 minutes on both sides. Threading the poles much easier with 2 people, and pegging out the groundsheet can be a bit tricky once the poles have been arched, but after that it was plain sailing. The inner can be left in, which made setup easier, and once up the tent is a sensible size for 4 with plenty of covered space and room for 4 air beds in the back sleeping pod.

The 3-door configuration was very helpful under the circumstances, permitted good ventilation during the day, and allowing for some airflow even when the integral fly screens were used in the evenings. The main door can be canopied out using optional king poles, and this aided further to create extra shade.

Obviously cannot comment on weatherproofing, as it didn't rain on our first 2 night trip under canvas, but the tent has a good bathtub style groundsheet sewn in, and I would expect it to fair well in the wet. I was unsure about wether to use the carpet on this occasion, but it was very soft under foot, and allowed us to clean the inside of the tent more easily at the end of the trip by simply shaking it outside.

The only gripe with the tent was that one of the pins was missing from a groundsheet loop, but we obtained a spare one and looped this on without difficultly. The supplied pegs also did not fair too well, meeting their match in the New Forest flint beds. Both V and pin pegs buckled under the mallet - used some MSR Groundhogs instead and they went in and came out unscathed.

Overall very happy with the purchase, and would recommend to a family of 4 such as us.
