1 Reviews of the Mountain Quasar

By: DiabloFish  Reason: I own(ed) one  Made in: 2001   Rating:

It's my oldest tent - bought 1987, and it's been fantastic: I've been the only tent left standing when camping in Scotland in October, and I've slept in howling weather on the massif around Snowden. The snow valances come in to their own when camping in Sandwood Bay in the NW of Scotland . Just use Rocks to weight down the tent, after all the pegs are little use in sand.

After 26 years and all it's had is new poles (.Terra Nova supply now) and a couple of cans of waterproofing.

I now go camping with the Scouts with my kids, and it's still going strong, though I've now bought a Super Quasar . See picture.

The S/Quasar has some design advantages: Slightly larger doorway, and - for a 6ft'er like me - slightly increased headroom, though with hindsight I'd have ordered the valances! Enjoy.

Manufacturer's Description

The definitive 2 person mountain tent is much copied, but never bettered. The exceptionally strong geodesic design has withstood some of the harshest conditions for over two decades. Simple and quick to pitch with colour coded poles and continuous pole sleeves. Superb inner tension prevents sagging and creating the largest usable space possible. Two entrances and porches allow sheltered access and plenty of space to store your gear. A combination of Watershed Endurance and Waterbloc fabrics provide excellent durability and UV resistance with superb waterproofing.
