I was lucky enough to get one of these in the pre-sale (they sold out in about two minutes). I owned one of the original Drop X-Mid 2p tents with the mesh inner. The new solid version is much more practical for UK use, where it's frequently wet and windy.

The tent itself is pretty much the ideal two-person trekking pole tent. It's not the lightest on the market, but it probably is the lightest for the space inside. I can't fault it. If I could change anything I'd ask for a darker green material for the flysheet and perhaps a 30D groundsheet on the inner.

I have the v2 with solid inner.

The tent is spacious, very stable, lightweight at 1.2 kg for two people and a very interesting design.

The solid inner tent makes it very suitable for UK weather allowing ventilation and protection. The design means it can stand solidly without guys when inserting the trekking poles. Most trekking pole tents are difficult to pitch as the Poles do not stay in place until guyed out.

Materials are very well stitched. No loose threads or bad seams. Sil-poly does not sag when wet, unlike sil-nylon. I did replace the corner guys for longer ones as I will be using it on challenging mountain pitches.

Pack size is excellent though, as usual, the bag is on the tight side. Space is impressive. There are two well sized vestibules protected by a waterproof zipper. The Poles are offset so they do not block the doorways. The inner sits at an angle under the fly to maximise space. It is a unique design which is quite hard to explain. It just works. Two regular sleeping pads will fit inside with room at top and toe. There are gear loops and pockets as well. Headroom is excellent. I am 184cm tál (6 foot) and can sit up and crouch with room to spare

I reckon this is probably the best designed 2 person, double walled, backpacking tent on the market today. The designer, Dan Durston, is a well known Canadian backpacker who responds to queries etc in a timely manner. The tent is manufactured in Vietnam. It is the same factory as MSR. The downside is availability. It took me four attempts to get one. They sold out in minutes whenever they were available. Dan has promised more stock will be available next year and a more balanced availability.
