I had one of these when I owned a VW Sharan a couple of years ago. I'm a great fan of the Caranex awnings and have used the smaller one with an estate car with great success.

The H4TL model takes longer to put up than the smaller one (surprise, surprise) and is heavier, and felt cumbersome to erect. Also, it's a bit too narrow for the Sharan but once up, it's great. As with my smaller one it's totally waterproof and stands up well to gale force winds! Agree with previous poster, a bigger window would improve this product. I put a rubber groundsheet under the sewn-in one, to protect it from damage from stones etc, also, keeps the mud off!

A handy bit of kit, quick to erect (once you get the hang of it). Caranex tents. I love 'em!

Instructions are WOEFUL

I bought mine ages ago but haven't used it because the instructions are dreadful and I haven't got time to experiment.

I hear claims of 5 minute set up times.

THEN WHY NOT MAKE A FIVE MINUTE VIDEO?

Jeez it's 2021!

Oz-tents set up video is probably their biggest selling point.

Difficult to understand instructions , displayed on website. Drawings shown but unclear, not marked out like ABC etc., no actual photos of assembly, contacted web and emailed them but no reply. No indication on tent as to which model. My one is a H4TL , the tent bag is longer than specified at 1.3metres . My van is a fiat doblo high roof with barn doors so not sure if I have the right caranex model.

I own a caranex h4T,we use this awning on the back and side of our Toyota granvia camper van ,it has been altered using the caranex vk kit which allows it to be fitted into an awning rail which is on the Fiama f45s wind out awning also fit's into an awning rail on the back of the camper which I fitted onto a roof basket .It is a great bit of kit which can be used for table and chairs,sleeping,toilet what ever you need to use it for superb quality.

An excellent idea and manufactured using high quality fabric. Can be pitched in 5 minutes quite easily. I've used this tent with my Land Rover Defender 110 for over 4 years now in Britain, Europe and Morocco and it's never leaked a drop of water, even during Pyranean thunderstorms.
Would benefit from decent windows and a storm porch, and the groundsheet is the same material as tent walls, so needs extra protection. Might not fit if you have raised suspension.
