1 Reviews of the Antigua 8 SE

By: Tentoholics  Reason: I've used one  Made in: 2006   Rating:

The Antigua was very easy to put up as the poles are clearly colour coded and bedroom inners clipped onto the tension straps at their peg points, so no squeezing into the back corners of the tent and struggling to knock a tent peg in. I liked the variation of the vents / windows which will give many combinations for light and ventilation. The TWO tidies are always a good feature and I like the fact that the pole bag had it's own carry handle, very useful if you're wanting to pack them separately for better weight distribution.

Although there were three of us putting up this tent, the task was made ever so simple by the colour coded poles and adjustable tensioning straps allowing simple fitting of the poles. The tent took us a total of 20 minutes to put up including the bedroom compartments. The groundsheet takes about an extra 10 minutes. The bedroom separators were simply a sheet of material and would not offer privacy or noise reduction. They are however a nice way to split up the rooms should half of it be used for storing bags and gear, as well as providing ample space to sleep and live. Overall a very spacious tent, that is easy to put up and offers very good head room in the centre for the tallest of people!

Manufacturer's Description

The manufacturer has advised that this model has been discontinued.

The Antigua has two separate sleeping compartments, 2 x 5 berths or you can split those down further to make 4 bedroom compartments with a large living area and porch area. The Antigua 8 SE was an special edition of the popular Haven 800 exclusive to PJ Camping.co.uk.

The Antigua comes with unique X-FLEX Fibreglass poles that not only come with a 5-year warranty, the SunnCamp X-Flex shatterproof pole system provides all the advantages of a fibreglass pole but with the strength of steel. When fibreglass poles break they can splinter creating potentially thousands of dangerously sharp shards which can not only hurt you but also damage your tent, whereas the X-Flex poles have a strong polyprop sheath that, in the event of a pole breaking, do not allow any splinters to touch the tent or you.

On the Antigua all the flysheet seams are hot-air taped during the manufacturing process making them more weather resistant and sustainable to the abuse of the elements.

The Antigua comes complete with the latest heat reflective groundsheet. The upper side is aluminium coated and this essentially reflects back some of the heat that is normally lost through to the ground. The inner tent groundsheets are sewn in "bath tub" style for maximum protection against wet ground. They are also breathable, for your added comfort and have ventilation areas that are protected by mosquito mesh screens. The inner tents also come complete with an internal storage pocket so you should never misplace your mobile telephone or car keys whilst in bed again!

The inner tents have a secondary mesh door that is on the outside of the normal door enabling this inner tent door to be opened, for ventilation, whilst keeping out troublesome insects.

The Antigua is well ventilated which is essential for camping during the height of summer and helps to keep the air circulating and helps prevent condensation
