3 Reviews of the Breton 500 Air Volution Inflatable
By: Haulie Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2014 Rating:
I bought this Breton Air 500 from a website I think it was called up only once so it was pre used even though it looked new just the mesh in one door is a bit pulled.
It's almost 12Ft square . Put it up in the back garden a few times to get. The hang of it .
I had it in a camp site on The Ring Of Kerry on the Irish south West coast .
We pitched the tent (about 15 min) facing the south West and one of the nights it blew a SW Gale or at least force 7 .The vents were open so it was rather draughty to say the least it also lashed rain .
It never felt like it was under pressure and not a drop of rain came in.
It was just my wife and myself . We have a full size air bed from Aldi ( £20 inverter eBay) so there is a lot of room . It would be big enough for 2 adults and a few kids.Just bought an electric pump from Suncamp for this year . Two weeks in Devon and Cornwall + 2 nights in
Somerset on the way from the ferry.
All I can say is performance wise it's a 100%

This is a well made tent that is just the right size for the two of us. No way is it a 5 berth, the sleeping pod is exactly the same size as the one in the kampa croyde 4 berth it was bought to replace and the living area is half the size. The fact that it is smaller is what attracted us to it. It is very easy to pitch and very stable in the wind. The air tubes stayed up for a week without needing topping up which was a pleasant surprise ( why can't airbeds be made of the same stuff). As well as being stable in the wind it is also quiet, my previous tent was quite flappy, maybe due to air tents using thicker polyester. Ventilation seems ok, there is condensation but not to the extent of forming pools mind you there are only two of us in the tent. Another good thing is the huge bag that the tent comes in making packing away a breeze. The supplied hand pump works a treat. I did think of buying an electric one but there is no point as its so easy to pump by hand. I'd have given it 10/10 but for the fact that the air valves are inside, I would prefer them on the outside above ground level.

Love this tent and even better that we are pitched up or packed away in 10 minutes, takes me longer to get the sleeping bags out of the sacks ! We are a family of 3 and not sure how crammed it would be for a family of 5 but for a small family I would recommend. It would be handy to have a bigger porch / outdoor dining canopy overcome this by buying a green Gelert canOpy which fits lovely over the front and strangely enough is the same green and black so looks like it's supposed to join onto front . I have a history of changing tents but this one's been a keeper, and has withstood the elements well.
