We bought this tent to replace the sunncamp vario 6.The tent is very spacious but we find its not as easy to put up as the vario 6 was, this could be because the constellation has a sewn in groundsheet and the vario didn't. The problem we have is pushing the poles through when we are erecting it, it is so hard, and also getting them out again when we are packing away, we are thinking about getting a tent where you clip to the poles next time.

Having said that I don't think you can beat the amount of space inside, we even put up a 2 man dome tent inside of a night time to sleep extra people and we still had enough room to walk to around in.

I love the way its set out and having the 3 doors is great especially on those rare occasions when it gets really hot.

We have just bought the porch extension for it as all the family are going away in it this year and in case it rains I wanted somewhere that they could leave shoes in case it rains so that they don't tread mud all over the carpet.

On the whole it is a great tent I just wish the poles were easier to put through.

We purchased the Constellation 800 as this tent provides complete flexibility with sleeping arrangements and also a great area of living space.

The tent is easy to pitch with 5 Carson fibre poles (takes the wife and I about 20-30 minutes from laying out the footprint to completion inside and out).

The flexibility really is with the internal pods, offering a guest double pod (this can be put up and removed to give more living space during the day) 1 double pod, and a double, double pod, the reason I use double, double is purely the fact you can unzip the partition for this pod and instead of 2 two berths you can have one large pod as well as the double guest pod and the other double pod.

Sunncamp also sell the Verona DL awning which itself is easy to put up and offers us an excellent kitchen area. You can also purchase a front extension for the tent offering another 6 foot to the tent.

We have used this unit in very heavy rain with only a couple of drips coming through, not really tested in the wind yet.

Putting the tent away is also a dream as the bag the tent is supplied with is more than big enough for you not to need an origami degree in putting it away.

All in all an excellent purchase and a happy camper.

We upgraded from our cheap and quite small Halfords tent to the Constellation 800 (no offence meant to Halfords at all, we just got larger as a family). Naturally the increase in size was the main consideration but we've noticed so many features about it that convinced us we'd bought wisely and really had got value for money. Quality of construction for a start, then there's the integral groundsheet with high mud walls; fly screens on the external side doors and all the bedrooms; little zip entry panel and velcro cable supports and light hanging rings for electric hook up; ventilation flaps and built in curtains for all the windows really make a difference. For our family of two adults and three children, the large living area is the best thing about it, we've all been sat inside when it's been chucking it down outside and to be honest we never even noticed the rain and with a family we think that's an important consideration. We can all sit inside if the evenings are cooling down too. We've had a few questions about the tent so others have noticed it too when we've been on site.

Now we're just waiting for the end of summer camping sales to get the Verano DL extension, the front canopy extension and best of all carpets, then we'll really be living in the lap of luxury.

Thanks to another review on here, we found it easy to put up. Starting with the back one, if you put all the flexible poles in first and lay them on top of one another with the front one at the top, then just stand it up with the guy rope supports at the front, then pull the whole thing out like a concertina. Insert the long metal support poles inside and the whole thing is very stable from that point. Then all you have to do is get the groundsheet and flysheet edges pegged down and the other guys in place and you're done. By the time I've finished this my wife has got all the bedrooms up and then I reverse the car right up to the front or a side door and we offload everything straight into the tent. Easy peasy. The whole thing takes about an hour max from arriving on site and we're set up for the weekend. Happy days.

We bought this tent a few weeks ago after seeing it set up at a tent exhibition in herts , loved the size of the tent , huge and spacious

We paid Ł320 with the extra bedroom pod included which we used as our sons friend came along too , and still had masses of living space left

We pitched it in the park the day it arrived , nice calm day , took about an hour and 3 people to pitch

Took it camping 12 days ago and had to pitch it in very strong winds and had a real struggle with it but did eventually manage to get it up and pitched properly

This tent withstood the most terrible weather we've ever experienced in 10 years of camping , incessant rain , and really really strong winds , so we know its taken a real battering and survived

All in all a really lovely , large spacious family tent with great usable space and brilliant all round tent

Just got back from 2 weeks in France with this tent, plus a couple of practice weekends, and wanted to share some road test results and how pleased I am with it.

SPACE:

Firstly, it is big and flexible. We are a family of 5, plus mother-in-law, and we all had space and privacy. We have used various combinations of the inner rooms (depending on the weather) for storage or sleeping. Quite a nice trick is being able to take down the 'guest pod' during the day and stash it in the smaller bedroom to provide more living space if the weather is gloomy.

This tent design has a huge advantage over vis a vis tunnel tents (like Tigris 800 or Gelert Meridian) in that it has windows! Because only one end is used for sleeping, the other end has windows, a completely vertical door and makes the inside of the tent much more spacious and pleasant to actually live in.

We also have the constellation canopy, which is surprisingly large (an extra 8ft I reckon) and provides great cover for rain (possible to cook out there with care) and also shade. I Would highly recommend getting this. The constellation canopy has a matching colour scheme so it does look like a natural part of the tent, avoid the 'compatible' ones as I think they look a bit stuck on .

PERFORMANCE:

We arrived in France at the start of a freak storm. We put the tent up in the rain and nearly 4 inches of rain fell in the next 36 hours. The tent passed with flying colours - kept us all dry, despite puddles forming beneath the groundsheets (footprint and sewn in) due to the saturated ground. There were no leaks from the groundsheet or canvas, and the only drips came from the seams next to the plastic windows after about 24 hours - presumably it is hard to stitch the tent canvas to the plastic and this eventually became saturated.

We watched lots of people flood out and pack up, but we sat tight and the sun shone eventually. The front canopy was invaluable, and I used the two upright king poles from side porch to provide additionally support to the front canopy pole.

I've not had to deal with high winds (yet) and I would fear putting up or taking down the tent in wind, but once it is up, it flexes very well with occasional gusts without straining anything.

PRACTICALITY:

There are three main doors, each with different features (eyebrow porch, big storm porch and vertical door) and we have used different ones depending where we have pitched the tent (e.G. If we are next to a hedge) so there is lots of flexibility.

The vents are fantastic, with the semi rigid window openers doing a great job of keeping rain out but letting air in.

There aren't loads of guy ropes round the doors for the kids to trip over, they are quite restrained and nicely fluorescent so we have had no tripping trouble.

One thing that really attracted me to this tent was the aluminium poles that run lengthways along the tunnel. There are two at about head height, and they tie on to the canvas and link together the 5 curved tunnel poles. I've not seen this in other tunnel tents, and I really don't know why because they make the tent so much more rigid. In fact, I've found the easiest way to get the tent up is to thread in all the flexible poles, then as soon as possible jump inside and get these lateral poles in place - they give the tent its shape and structure. With this method (and running around cos of the rain) two adults pitched the tent in 30 mins, with another 15 mins for the front canopy and all storm guys.

NIGGLES:

The one weak spot seems to be the window seams, but it really was a small leak considering the persistent sodden conditions.

The only other problem I had was with the constellation canopy. It loops over the last tunnel hoop of the tent, and clips down under the pole to hold on, but this strap seems about 6 inches too short - to fit it correctly pulls in the main tent way too tight for my comfort levels. I found a good fix by using a couple of cable ties to give the extra length, but it seemed to be not as well built as the rest of the tent - unless I'm missing something?

CONCLUSION:

Great design, fantastic performance in the wet, loads of useful space with well though through extras like screen doors, vents, storage, hooks etc.

Got the tent from world of camping ordered it on the Sunday got it Tuesday at 8.30am.

Had a dummy run with it and took 45 mins to erect. Its a very big tent plenty of room and sleeping spaces. It defo takes 2 people to erect and got a bit confused when it came to putting up the bedrooms. We left the rooms up when we packed it away to save time for when we got to Henllys north Wales on the 5th of august so I will report back after we have spent our 2 weeks in it

We bought This tent to replace our 6 birth old frame tent, which we had out grown out of with four children.

What attracted us to this tent was the flexibility of the sleeping compartments. We used the guest pod, our two daughters had separate compartments and our two boys shared. This gave every body including us plenty of space and enabled all the clothes to be stored in the bedrooms. The guest bedroom(as sunncamp call it) is longer than the other three allowing holdalls to be stored at the as well.

It was easy to erect about an hour (we did practice several times before). We did purchase the verano canopy, carpet and footprint groundsheet. The canopy we felt was a must as all cooking and food prep could be done here. The carpet added comfort and the groundsheet kept the tent clean but are not a must have.

Tent survived a heavy storm with no leaks and some quite strong winds and all faired well.

Overall we are delighted with the tent and would have no hesitation in recommending it to any one. We hope to enjoy many more family holidays in it.

As a footnote we purchased it from Camping international, Gillingham and found them an excellent company to deal with.
