6 Reviews of the Elan 200

I love this tent. I have had it since the beginning of 2011 and have used it four times. The sleeping compartment is perfect for a double airbed, and having standing height means getting in and out of sleeping bags or getting changed is easy. The living area is very spacious and again standing height. The huge windows really enhance the camping experience, even when the weather is typically British. The only downside to this tent is I found that when it rained all day,the roof started to sag in the middle and then hold huge puddles of water, but at least it was holding and not leaking huge amounts of water. I would definitely recommend this tent for couples.

Great tent for couples, very easy to put up (One person can put this up with ease).
I have been out in this tent about a dozen times now, its stood up to 60 MPH winds, non stop rain, and never had a problem with it. I would recommend this tent to anyone looking for quality while saving a few pounds.

I bought this tent in the uk for a three month trip around Europe with my husband. We found it great, apart from the small bedroom which he used while I had a stretcher in the lounge area. It still gave us plenty of room for our bags. We had no leaks during some rainy days, and I have shipped it home to n.Z. Where we hope to go camping this coming year!

This is a very good tent for two people. It is easy and quick tent to pitch. The living space is very good and you can fit loads of kit inside and still have room to move around. The windows are a good feature and let in loads of light.
Agree with other reviews that the sleeping area is snug, but there is plenty of room in the main area to store kit that you might usually keep in the bedroom. The side door could do with more velcro across the bottom but this could easily be rectified. There could also be a potential problem with the webbing strap on the diagonal poles getting cut if the tent is being used constantly and subjected to strong winds. The manufacturers seem aware of this as they give instructions on what to do if this happens: as a contingency to this possible problem we now carry heavy duty plant ties with pre cut holes that lock together, these should make a good repair option should the webbing strap get damaged.
As yet we have not used the tent in a downpour so can't comment on its ability to keep out the rain.
At approx £150.00 this is a good value tent and thankfully comes in a bag that is big enough to fit everything back in without a major struggle.
Due to the size of this tent and its ease of pitching it would be equally suited to short weekend or longer duration trips.

I've had this tent on my 'wish list' since I saw it erected at my local camping store early in 2010 - a 2 man tent that you can stand up in - wow! So when they kindly reduced it to £149 at the start of this year's season I snapped it up - and I'm so glad that I did as having just returned from a UKCS meet on the Isle of Wight where it had it's first outing, I can categorically state that I AM LOVING THIS TENT!
I bought it to be used by either myself and my fair-weather camping OH, or by myself and my 2 youngest kids thinking the 3 of us would fit into the 2-man bedroom area and that I could erect it alone. Due to the amount of people at the meet, eager to get their hands on a 'virgin' tent, I didn't actually get to erect it alone, but am confident that I would be able to. Once up the tent feels extremely solid and stable in structure even though we were hit with very bad gusts of wind. The selling point of this tent is obviously the large living area with it's huge front windows(with curtains)and I found them great at bringing the 'outside, inside'- even when the weather forced us undercover, we didn't feel cut-off from the rest of the world! I had my kitchen unit set up in here, which still left ample space for 2 chairs (one of them a large 'moon' chair),a table and all the clutter that comes along with a 4yr old boy. The organiser pockets were also a godsend and withheld being stuffed to capacity admirably.
There is a zipped EHU entry point and cable tidy for those that require electric, we tend not to 'do' EHU, but the SIG and carpet ensured we were kept very cosy and warm. The ventilation was excellent with stiffened covers on the vents and a 'prop' to hold them open - even cooking the morning fry-up didn't cause too much steaming up of the windows! There are 2 side doors, one of which is a canopy type with side gussets and king poles, the other having an attached eyebrow porch which is stopped rain running into the tent. There are O rings for hanging lights etc. In living and sleeping areas.
The bedroom is errmmm.Compact and bijou! I had optimistically taken my son's kids kampa bed and my single airbed.Absolutely no way they were going in there together! A quick trip to the local Tesco provided me with a double airbed for a tenner, which fitted perfectly with a small space left for bags at the end of it. Ok.There is not a lot of space in the bedroom pod and I think getting me and 2 kids in there would be a very tight squeeze, however to be fair, this is sold as a 'couples' tent and the bedroom provides ample space to lie down and sleep. I agree with the previous review that said mesh on the side doors would be a welcome extra, but my only other grievance is that for some reason on the base of the canopy door there is no zip, just a tiny piece of velcro in the middle which allows blasts of cold air into the tent.Easily fixed by additional velcro, but one wonders why it was designed like that in the first place?
All in all though, I think this is a superb tent, I'm very happy with it, can't wait to use it again and would certainly recommend it - I am trying to upload photos of it too, but not having much luck as yet lol!

This is the perfect tent for one person with standing height throughout. Just spent a week in Stratford upon Avon where it withstood a one day downpour without any problems. I think a no see-um mesh on at least one of the outside doors would have got this tent a 10. On days of 24degrees you need to be able to leave a door open if you are at on site to let the air in without bugs and flying things.
Great size windows complete with curtains, perfect for people watching.
Complete SIG throughout tent and also in bed pod. Lots of mesh panels for fresh air. Dark bed pod to let you sleep past dawn, with loop for light.
This is a very cosy tent.
This tent bedroom layout would be a bit tight for 2 but the living space and windows are great. You can easily fit a table and chairs and still have room to manoeuvre.
I use a kitchen tent so did not have to accommodate cooking items.
