9 Reviews of the Global 600

I was deliberating over which tent to purchase & one that made my shortlist was the Montana but I couldn't justify the price tag. Then I found a secondhand Sunncamp Global 600 on the trade-it so snapped it up for a great price.

I used the tent all last summer & it's brilliant.

Pitched it the first time on my own & it was a bit of a struggle and took me about one & half hours (with the help of my 2 year old) but was well worth it. I've also pitched with help when we went camping in a group & we had it up & pegged out within 30 minutes. I bought the Montana footprint & it fits perfectly. The tent is huge & has everything that I was looking for. The silver groundsheet makes it very warm & cosy. The mesh on the doors was great and the 'wardrobe' was handy for storing everything out of sight. My one grip is the front door though as you have to stand inside the tent to be able to reach the top but apart from this it's a brilliant tent. Such a shame that Sunncamp no longer make it.

Really impressed with this tent almost identical to the Montana 6 (I have bought and used a Montana carpet & footprint) but a lot cheaper the quality is superb. The included extension (extra on the Montana) is very useful our camp kitchen fits just right.

A real shame this tent is not made any more!

Finally the most important thing me and the wife managed to put up and take down this tent without divorce papers being issued!

We have used this tent twice and both times people have commented on how nice it looks. It is easy to pitch including putting the canopy on which is idea for eating and cooking under. The only down side is the room divider it does not seem to have enough places to attach to so you can see over to the other side. Which is fine for us as there is only OH, son and me.

Almost identical to the Montana 6. Differences include: a buttoned curtain divider instead of a zipped one; no outside door in the wardrobe; a slightly shorter canopy which I prefer.

The extension is included in the £250 and is short enough that it doesn't push the length past 9 metres (max length for CCC sites I believe). The width is under 5 metres too so you shouldn't have problems pitching anywhere.

Took me 90 minutes to erect first time but that was on my own whilst reading the instructions. I expect I can get it under 30 minutes with 2 people and another couple of practices. 45 minutes to pack away but again I should get quicker. Easy to pack away too as the bags are a decent size.

Decent quality and lots of light due to the light blue roof. The poles are solid steel with one fibre glass pole for the wardrobe but it doesn't bend excessively so I don't expect it will splinter.

The SIG groundsheet is tough (and silver) and I expect it will take whatever is thrown at it. I've got a footprint (well some cheap tarpaulin) so I expect this will lengthen its life time also.

The bedroom buttons and clips easily which is helped by the colour coding. The separating curtain is woefully thin but if this causes a problem with the little ones then I'll probably rig something up a bit thicker. The wardrobe is big enough to accommodate a chemical toilet (or BWL) although the roof is lower than the main tent so it's 'sit down wees' for the men as well. Plenty of storage pockets dotted around.

The guys are fluorescent and the pins are adjustable which makes it a little easier to insert into the poles.

I believe the tent is discontinued so if you can still get hold of one (at £250) then my advice would be.Bite their hand off!

We bought from United British Caravans for £250 complete with canopy so considering it's similar to the Outwell Montana 6, it's a bargain. We ordered it Monday before 1pm and it arrived Tuesday morning!

The quality was evident from the outset, the heavy steel poles assemble easily and the flysheet although nylon seems substantial. The groundsheet is silver and thicker than normal. The bedroom pod also has the same silver groundsheet so the insulation is doubled where its needed.

The bedroom hangs easily and is adjustable, the separating curtain is thin but this doesn't bother us as we will use it as one huge bedroom. We fitted in two single raised beds (40' wide each) and have plenty of storage either side. There are plenty of built in pockets in each side of the pod plus probably another dozen on the outside. There is also bug mesh on the bedroom doors as well as the entrance door.

All of the zips, toggles and guys are fluorescent.

The storeroom groundsheet is also sown in, is of a good size and will make a brilliant en-suite!

The tent seems very light and airy probably because the roof is silvery grey and the blue colour is not dark like some. However the bedroom has a blue roof to aid sleep! There are plenty of windows but it still has a cosy feel.

The canopy has plenty of room for cooking, sitting, eating etc and provides shade from the sun, wind and rain.

There is a side door with stable window and the main door has internal and external zips complete with velcro tabs.

The living area is oblong and thereby gives a very usable area for tables, chairs etc.

All in all we were extremely impressed with the quality, price and space. It suits our needs down to the ground and would recommend.

My friends are new to camping and bought the tent, as they had been impressed with the quality of the sunncamp eden they had borrowed. They are a family of 2 adults and 2 young children

We put the tent up in pouring rain . They hadn't had it out of the box to check anything, because they wouldn't know what they were supposed to be checking for.

Anyway, when I arrived later they had already assembled and threaded the poles in and it was ready to raise. No problem at all. Everything was straight and square. It was pitched perfectly first time. The front canopy which is included is a really useful addition for cooking under and shade from the sun.

The bedroom is one big 6 berth inner with a toggle in curtain to divide it in the middle. They had 2 double airbeds in it, with a large gap between them, this gap would probably have taken a single airbed or self inflating mat. A double row of handy storage pockets in the living area. About 8 pockets I think.

The wardrobe side extension was a bit confusing. It is just an extension, with a door to close it off from the main tent. Why its called a wardrobe I don't know? there was no hanging rail or shelves or anything provided. The bucket was put in there and some large storage boxes for clothes. It makes an ideal place to keep the loo out of sight.

Plenty of windows all round, curtains roll up from the bottom, on the inside. And the tent was nice and light and airy.

The quality was every bit as good as the Eden. It was warm and cosy inside, it has a silver groundsheet which is heat reflective. It rained heavily for a few hours, but all dry inside.

The doors have bug mesh and when the sun came out it was well ventilated. The tent feels safe and sturdy in high winds and belting rain.

My friends were very pleased with it and happy that it was easy to put up, and dismantle.

Easy to pitch great large family tunnel tent took us 45 mins first time. Loads of living room space and useful storage area. Very pleased with this tent a good buy for £280.00 as this includes the full canopy which we cooked under.

Last month I purchased a Global 600 which retailed at £250 at United British Caravans, a great buy. It is very similar to the Montana 6 with the addition of a large front canopy inclusive in the price. Ideal for cooking under or sitting under in sun or rain. This tent is incredibly spacious; although there is only me, my husband and teenage son, it sat another 6 people comfortably on a night when entertaining. The ground sheet is sewn in which stops drafts and bugs. It takes two people to erect and can be a little tricky when windy as its quite heavy, but very stable once erected. It took us 1hr 10 mins to pitch but this was our first time, I am sure we will get a little faster with practice. It has a handy annex area which is a built in wardrobe, guy lines are bright and visible and poles are sturdy sprung stainless steel rods, there are lots of windows giving a nice bright airy feel in addition to being slightly over two metres in height. This is a great buy although not small if space is limited for transport.
