We've been using this tent for 4 years now and the family's growing into it.

Build quality:

Quite good. Nothing has ripped or broken in the years we've had it, everything is watertight and all seams are taped. My only gripe with build quality is that it appears to be built slighly crooked; I can usually pull one side tight to the ground, but the other is raised about 2 inches. That means the straps that go under the groundsheet are slightly raised at the corners, but nothing too dramatic. The valance compensates, and it's only me notices it.

The three inner tents have bucket ground sheets while the main living area is just a flat custom-shaped groundsheet, which means during last year's washout the bedrooms were fine, while the main living area got flooded.

The front & back doors are different. The back is just a door that can be rolled back, while the front opens up and can be propped on supplied steel poles. This means we have to think about which way we're laying it out before we erect it. The front door flap would be better if it was a bit wider and a wee bit higher.

Easy to erect?

Yes. It takes two of us about 10 minutes to get the flysheet up with the colour coded poles, and then another 20 to hang the inners and peg down all the guy ropes. (even with three toddlers 'helping out')

Of course that's longer than a gelert pop-up tent, but for a tent this size I consider it to be quick.

The biggest issue is the rain cap over the centre. It keeps slipping off the hooks that hold it in place, and it's too high to easily re-attach it. Once the tent's up it's OK though.

In use:

A good solid tent, stands up well in the wind with no flapping and little noise.

The bedrooms are a good size, the two smaller ones accomodate our double air bed or one travel cot or ready-bed, with plenty of extra space for bag or toy storage. They've also got good-sized pockets and a plastic ring for hanging a light.

The larger room fits 4 people on camping mats; 5 would probably be a squeeze.

In the living area head height is good, and there's plenty of central space. If you're using both doors there's not a lot of wall space, and with it being a hexagonal shape all the walls are quite short, making the doors a little bit narrow.

Ventilation flaps and windows are well thought out and the whole tent has a light airy feel while the inner tents trap heat well because of the quality material and the double thickness on the doors (see-through insect mesh)

The repair kit covers most minor repairs, with material, glue and extra pole sections and attachments.

The bag it came in is simple enough, just a big black cloth bag with a zip, webbing carry handles and compression straps. I broke the clip on one of the compression straps quite early on, but it was easy to find a replacement. It all packs down to about 3'x2'x2' and it's not hard to fit everything into the bag. At 28kg it's heavy for one person to carry, but not impossible, so long as you're not planning to take it hiking.

Overall,

It's a good tent and we've no intention of replacing it in the immediate future.
