1 Reviews of the Kuro 700

By: Burchardt  Reason: I own(ed) one  Made in: 2011   Rating:

I bought this tent a few months ago as it looked nice and looked quite roomy as it has 2 inners, 1 being a 3 berth and other a 4 berth and a reasonable amount of living space. We used the tent for the very first time last week down at the Inside Park in Dorset. As it was the first time putting it up, it was straight forward, took about 20-25 mins tops My wife and I like a lot of room and there is only us two and our Border Collie Ben, but we like to be comfortable when away.

When we bought the Kuro we also bought the Extension, carpet and footprint. The extension is also very easy to put up, again 20-25 mins, but it`s huge. The tent and extension when up and together measure approx. 7.5m in length and 4.5m in width. We basically had 3 rooms, bedroom area, a nice warm comfortable lounge with carpet, table an chairs and then kitchen in extension with breathable woven awning carpet.

We had very heavy rain and winds for 1st couple of nights in which a few design problems appeared. The side entrance door has 2 zips that meet together in bottom L/H corner, rain seeped in. There is a flap over the main zip part but water running down flysheet goes down into corner and comes in between adjoining zips. Another thing was when wind blowing toward rear and down on tent the whole back end of tent buckles in, I honestly thought poles were going to snap, but when wind eases off the tent simply pops back into shape. I tried moving guy ropes in various positions and tensions but nothing worked. It could be a bit frightening, especially for kids if it happened in the dark of night and suddenly the bedroom area of the tent folded in on them. We now know that happens and will expect it in future. There is no cable entry point, I thought there was, but still managed and lastly, the main front door on tent, has 2 zips on each side to open and close, there is nothing on bottom of door,so if you had a nosey fox, rabbit, dog etc it could quite easily push it`s way in through bottom of door. Overall the tent is very good, no leakage except one already mentioned. We paid £187 for tent,£119 for extension, £65 for carpet and £22 for footprint,so £393 for the lot on the net, and for that you have a huge, comfortable 7 berth tent.

So except for the odd thing I have pointed out I would recommend the Kuro.
