3 Reviews of the Maison 6

Don't often do reviews but felt I ought to spread the love, as we really like this tent!

Shhhhh.Don't tell everyone as there'll be none left! They don't make them like this any more :(

Assuming it's at least 20 years old now, and having several different tents over the years (at the last count we currently have 7 in our garage ranging from 2-6 person!) This is the one of choice. Even my long suffering husband says this. And he's nowhere near as obsessed with the perfect tent as I am.

It's easy to put up ( be careful in high winds as it's heavy, and nearly took off on our first outing ), takes up little room in these days of massive tents for its roominess, as it's quite upright, is quiet in wind, and nice and cool in summer ( +warm on cooler nights) and looks nice and tight/well put up even when we do it (we almost look like professionals lol)

Ours was a bargain on ebay, and we're so happy with it that we would have another one without hesitation. In fact we have just persuaded a very good friend to buy a Sunncamp Continental 6 to try with the premise that we will buy it off her if she doesn't get along with it!

I suppose the only thing I would change would be to have a sewn in groundsheet, as I don't like earwigs. But that just didn't exist when this tent was made.

Sorry no pics available, but cannot compete with those of previous reviewer. (Actually am useless technologically so haven't bothered)

Ps we have made funky new curtains to replace delightful 1980s ones; sorry, I've already lived that era once :)

Not a fan of synthetic tents it has to be cotton for us. Our Maison is one three tents we own. We do not use it so much now as our sons have grown up, but I would not consider parting with it.The model we have is the earlier tent without the PVC panels around the base of the tent, these panels are an improvement . Two separate inner tents sleep 4&2 in comfort. The inner tents on the earlier model have a heavy duty PVC floor whereas the later tent has a cheaper feeling reinforced polythene. The living area is quite adequate. There is a kitchen with a mesh window, and a zip down flap on the outside to keep out the elements. I have assembled this tent on my own in calm conditions but would always recommend at least two people. These tents were manufactured in china and probably not up to cabanon standards, but for value for money, excellent. Our Maison is 20years old and has been well used .

Great canvas frame tent!

Have waited to submit review until I got my pics on here, nothing worse than reading about a tent but not being able to see it.

After years of DH being a polyester fanatic,I managed to persuade him to get a canvas frame tent and what a tent!

It's a doddle to pitch (I labelled all poles and re-sprung ones which were loose),Canvas is heavy, but gorgeous,no noisy flapping in the breeze, bright and airy inside, 2 large windows with curtains, large mesh panel on kitchen side with drop down cover,2 doors and the front opens up completely, bedrooms are 4 berth and 2 berth with a hanging rail in between which has a cover.

We have a smaller canvas tent for weekends too,but to be honest,it was no problem pitching this for one night, and the best bit.No condensation!
