6 Reviews of the Triumph 800

We've had this tent for three years and the previous two seasons we have gone to the Vendee in France and had a great time. The tent is very large, you need two to three people to put it up. It was water proof. However this season we went to Devon and in gusting wind the tent poles flexed back and forth and the overhead poles fatigued and snapped then the tent collapsed. I used extra guy ropes and even used climbing rope to reinforce. One corner of the tent tore and had to be repaired. So it's a good family tent for a sheltered space such as they have in France with hedge surrounds but in an open space with moderate gusting winds it will fail. Our holiday only lasted one day. I noticed that other family tents with flexible supports were ok.

The great thing about the tent was the space. Large bedrooms with an extra space at the back for luggage and you could add an extra bedroom if needed. The living area is large enough for table and chairs and you can still move around. It's a tent for sheltered pitches and fair weather only.

We purchased this tent in 2012, and have used twice, once in April in the UK and then for 2 weeks in The Netherlands in August. The tent is so big, it quite amazing. We have a kingsize air bed and there is still plenty of room in the bedroom pod. The storage area at the back easily fits a Wardrobe and a clothes rail. We took 3 bikes with us and stored them in between the 2 bedrooms each night, and still had plenty of room for a kitchen area and a table and benches the other side. We had a couple of very heavy rain storms and not 1 single leak or drip, but I agree a mesh cover on the front door would be great.

It is quite hard to erect, we previously had a Outwell Sun Valley 8 and my husband could put that up alone, but this is definitely a 2 or 3 person job, but worthwhile if you are away for any length of time.

All in all we are very happy, and plan to holiday for the next 4 or 5 years in this tent!

I bought one of these whilst in Devon on a camping trip last year (2011). The minute I walked into the tent I couldn't believe the space that was available. I have used it twice and I must say we are happy with the layout and room in our 'bungalow'. We have used it in storm conditions and although a little rain did get in around the en-suite rooms it wasn't a lot( it does state in the instructions that it is not made for use in storms). Overall I'm really impressed. It is quite easy to erect if you remember to follow the instructions to the letter. It takes me and my wife about 30-40 mins. It is very draught free. The windows are huge giving good all round views. The tent is very warm, the sleeping compartments are generous. The storage pockets that are fitted onto the outside of the bedrooms are a great idea. The electric hook up zipped access is good, even with cupboards, cooker, radiator and chairs inside it is still a roomy beast. The only way that I could improve on the tent would be for a mesh screen to be fitted to the front door (there is one on the rear door. I could recommend this tent to others.

We love this tent. It's not the easiest to erect. The second time we used it we did it section by section instead. However, once it's up it's the best tent we've ever had. The children have plenty of room with a campbed each in their living compartment and they keep their clothes etc in the ensuite bit at the back which helps to keep their sleeping area a bit tidier.

This tent is so roomy, it's fantastic. We have a separate cooking area, the table and four chairs fit with plenty of extra space on the other side at the front of the tent. We have two larders and keep all food etc in the space between the two sleeping compartments towards the back door. There is plenty of room for me to cook and everyone to walk about even on a typical rainy uk day. You never feel cramped with this tent. It's light and airy too. I couldn't go back to a smaller tent now!

We have used our tent twice now, the first time was very good,it is very spacious and there is plenty of room to manoeuvre inside, the 'en-suite's' are a brilliant idea, however, the second time was not so. We had leaks in several places where the seems had been pulled by the wind, and also one of the steel supports collapsed and hit my young daughter on the head, we then had to pack up and come home because for some reason the steel had bent and the tent was then unstable. It was quite windy but as far as I'm concerned the cost of the tent should reflect the quality, I'm afraid i'm not best convinced in this instance. I await a decision from the place we purchased it as to what is going to be done about it.

Brought this tent at end of July 09 for a weeks holiday in Brean, Family of 2 Adults, 2 kids and 1 infant, fantastic size tent loads of space kids loved it, got all of our friends other kids living in it also.

Had to return tent as the rear D door leaked, we had one bad day of rain and even had a flooded pitch, the only place the tent leaked was the rear door and curtain seams for the en-suites, the door cannot be pegged out so it lifts up causing a well at the bottom of the door which collects water and leaks in through the seams at the bottom, the water also leaked through at the seams of en suite curtains not a lot but still had to leave towels and washing up bowl on floor to collect water.

However I must say with the pitch flooding there was no water leakage anywhere from this, loads of other tents around us had the tents flooded and people where amazed that the tent didn't leak in. We have now purchased an outwell Idaho xl, I would of had another Triumph 800 but was concerned that the same fault would be on the rear door and curtains.
