We live locally and I take my 2 grandkids camping, one 14, one 8. 14 Yr old has his own tent, 8 Yr old sleeps in van with me. First visit to petruth.
On arrival we checked in and met by lovely lad who explained the site to us. We chose family friendly and were offered different pitches.
We were escorted there via a little buggy and shown where to pitch. This was a good sized pitch, near the play area. Play area is logs, huge 'cotton reel' structures, a tractor and a jeep to climb over, plus a football area.
Toilets were plenty and always clean, big shower cubicles, with ample washing up area and waste bins, fresh water all close by. Beautiful views of hills surrounding and cows in next field.
Kids loved the play area, lots of imagination play there! Room for football play, kites, bikes, dogs so not on top of each other.
Staff in the shop let us know the safe way to walk to cheddar, went for a swim at the leisure centre and a walk to town for food and ice cream and a lovely walk by the pond/river.
It's a good unstructured place, offering log fires, they tow a trailer of wood, kindling etc to use in the available burners, lovely to see the fires and people chatting around them with kids playing safely.
The site has a good, warm, quirky and friendly vibe to it, clean, no littering, safe and welcoming.
Will return for sure!

Friendly staff, fab facilities and great pitch size all in a superb location a short walk from the gorge!
Was worried about the electric tariff but needn't have as it was only an extra fiver for the 4 days (3 nights).
Loved the canteen caravan on the weekend, yummy breakfast made to order.

Fantastic site. Beautifully set out, really welcoming staff,
The facilities are new and modern and we're clean whatever time of day you went in.
Great location for exploring the area, but also a gorgeous site to just while away the days on.

This site is conveniently located for walking into Cheddar village to visit the Gorge and Caves.
It is also on the Strawberry Line cycle route, and we managed to get all the way to Cleveden on the Severn Estuary and return.
The camping fields are huge, and I would think that in summer it is very popular with families with children as there is plenty of room for the kids to play.
We got a nice warm reception from Jules the owner, and site manager Abby.

This is our second visit to Petruth and I have to say it is one of the best sites that I have stayed at.
The location is excellent, it is a short walk into Cheddar, where there are two supermarkets and plenty of shops, pubs, restaurants.
Next door is Cheddar FC who we went to watch play on Saturday.
There is also a car boot sale next door on Sunday mornings
Jules and his staff at Petruth really go above and beyond to help guests enjoy their stay.
We will be back again to this great site

Fantastic site, made even better with the new showers.
Fantastic management team, if you ever want to know how to run a campsite perfectly just ask Jules and the team (or spend a few nights here to experience it).
Rare blend of perfection for adults and children alike.
We tried cycling and camping for the first time, had a great time despite the limited amount of camping gear we could carry.

Great relaxing place to stay.
Large fields with unassigned pitches so you can camp where you like and even better - put your caravan how you like - tow bar in, sideways or on its roof if you like.
This is brilliant for allowing the sun to set into the awning instead of setting on the unused side of the caravan.
Camp fires also allowed and therefore makes a traditional camping experience.
Much better than these sites with 4m square pitches, picket fences that you cannot reverse your caravan onto and rules, rules, rules along with several hundred signs to 'stop enjoying yourself'.
I wish all sites were like this Petruth Paddocks
