I have just returned from my third visit to the Old Granary, third and last, it has now become a dual site, C. L in the week and Weddings at a weekend, unfortunately the weddings business does spread over onto the C. L site in the week, in as much you do get complete strangers wondering around (25 in the week we were there) checking to see if the ground is suitable for there wedding, in and out of the toilets like flies actually also you now get a lot of activity from the owner with his little mower, must get the grass nice and stripped for the weddings, he also has a noisy strimmer he likes using, not much tranquillity there now,
Just as a bunus there is a static caravan by the site permantly let the occupiers of which do drive quite quickly across the C. L site,
The Old Granary is situated alongside a bend in a very very busy road
I can no longer recommend this site

We have just spent 9 nights on this site. It is a very quaint site. The pitches are not set so you can generally park wherever you like. They have extension leads if needed for electricity. It's a good size site and plenty of room.
The shower facilities are very good. Immaculate. The shower room is spacious and the shower powerful and lovely and hot. It's heated too so a nice warm towel to get out to.
There is as mentioned, lots of farm animals which is cute. The site does get very soggy when it rains. Team M & D, who are the wardens on site are always very busy keeping the site immaculate. They live on site from Wednesday to Sunday. The grass and flowers are kept tidy and there is a hobbit style mound on the site, which they have weddings in apparently. They are very welcoming and very helpful with local advice.
The site is just off the busy A59 but to be honest you don't really hear it. Although getting out onto the A59 can be a bit tricky at busy times. It takes about 20 minutes to drive into York and 30 minutes to Harrogate. There is a big Tesco Extra on the outskirts on an ideal shopping park. Clifton Moor Centre. We found a lovely walk into York along the river. You have to drive towards the city centre on A59 from the site, turn left at the main roundabout and head out on the A1237 I think and just over the bridge over the river there is a layby you can park for free in and walk along the river bank into the city. Very pleasant, takes about an hour.
The site is on a quiet lane which has a footpath over the railway line, this is public however there is usually sheep in the field but it's an ok walk for dogs for their early morning walk and late night walk, other than that, there is another walk over the main road through a farm yard but crossing the road isn't much fun. We did find most of the public footpaths are not maintained very well sadly.
I would recommend this site if visiting the area of York or Harrogate. We had a lovely time, thank you

With the wet summer we thought the ground may be wet in mid October, we weren't wrong. However it says a lot for the owners and their preparation that the site was habitable, they have a 4x4 to assist on siting of unit if required
The site has loads of space, with large pitches, fantastic facilities heated and spotlessly clean. Shower and toilet better than sites that charge double the £14 a night
Animals galore 5 peacocks, 2 emu, 2 llamas, pigs, donkeys and horses. Owners very friendly, enthusiastic and willing to help. Fresh eggs available in an honesty box on site.
We will return hopefully when the site is dryer, the owners well deserve the Caravan Club CL award from 2011, I would not be surprised to see them triumph again in 2012.

Just stayed on this site and it's great, but you must like animals, when we pulled on we were greeted by ducks peacocks chickens, and also a friendly jackdaw that loves to share a packet of crisps. The site is immaculately kept. There are hookup point's and the shower/toilets are in a wooden cabin that's heated and kept spotless. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Would we return? you bet we will.

Just back from our second stay at this great site.
The owners are really friendly and helpful, the site is kept in immaculate condition and there are free range eggs straight from the farm.
The lovely wardens keep the facilities clean and tidy and the pond, the lawn and the gardens are maintained in pristine condition.
The farm next door has a variety of livestock including horses, miniature ponies, several breeds of goat and even a pair of alpaca's to keep you entertained. Not forgetting the ducks, geese, chickens and peacocks you'll share the site with!
And if you can't cope with the caravan they also run great B & B!
