Campfire Tripod and Dutch Oven

We looked at two practical products that allow campers to safely combine the barbecue experience with the traditional campfire atmosphere to recreate those happy evenings of traditional camping entertainment.
Camp Fire Tripod Deluxe
The Camp Fire Tripod Deluxe from Easy Camp provides the cooking capabilities that add a different dimension to sitting around the campfire. It comprises an easy-to-assemble 150cm tall steel tripod that creates a stable platform for the height-adjustable 50cm diameter grill that can be fine controlled above a campfire for perfect food preparation.
It also includes a sturdy and stable fire tray for times when a site will only allow off-the-ground barbecues and campfires.
Some handy accessories are also available and including the Flint Striker and the Fire Starter which are both compact tools for starting a fire or igniting a burner in any weather and they even work when soaked. Both can be used with the back side of a knife or the included metal piece to make sparks.
Robens Carson Dutch Oven
The Carson Dutch Oven from Robens is a tough, excellent piece of kit that can be used in conjunction with the Easy Camp Tripod Delux and you can use it either as a pot or oven. The Dutch Oven has a raised edge on lid which holds embers in place for heat above and below and if you want to use it direct in the fire, then this is possible using the 3 legs. This is a heavyweight oven made from durable cast iron for optimal heat transfer and even cooking throughout and has the handle for attaching to the tripod if you wish. This product needs no pre-use care and is pre-seasoned for immediate use. The Carson Dutch Oven is available in three sizes, 4.3L which has an RRP of £44.99, the 8.2L with an RRP of £67.00 and the large 11.3L oven at £100 RRP
To go with the Carson Dutch Oven you can also get the Carson Lid Lifter, not only does this stop you from burning yourself, it makes it easier to lift the lid to check on your cooking. This is a compact handle making it easy to store and carry with you and allows a secure grip on the lid while keeping your hands far away from the heat. This removes the need to wear gloves and allows the safe lifting of a hot ember covered lid. The Carson Lid Lifter has an RRP of £8.99 . There are also many pans and a Carson Baking Tin available.
Campfire Tripod - Our Thoughts
The tripod comes flat packed and is easy to assemble and did not take us very long indeed, in fact we got the fire going then started to build this. This was built long before the fire was roaring and ready to use.
It felt very stable once up with the grill suspended from it over the fire. Due to it coming flat packed it is still small enough to pack away into your camping box and become an essential part of your kit.
The chain is adjustable for you to lower or higher the rack depending on the size of your fire and we found this ideal for cooking a slow cooked meal in the Robens Carson Dutch Oven and being able to adjust the height meant we could boil, simmer or rest very easily without having to take the oven off each time.
The included fire tray is very handy, as it means you can have your fire in the tray with no contact with the ground, and no damage to the grass!
