Description
Pitches: 20
Opening Dates next year: 15/07/2025 to 05/09/2025
This is a pop-up campsite, and it may only be open for limited periods within the opening dates shown.
The Camping Grounds at Ecton Bridge is nestled in a tranquil corner of the beautiful Manifold Valley in the stunning Peak District. Our two sheltered fields, ringed with hills and protected by mature trees, offer a peaceful hideaway from the hustle and bustle of the world outside.
The grassy banks of the river River Manifold provide an ideal spot for a picnic and a swim or a paddle on a hot summers day. In the evening, light a campfire, toast some marshmallows, watch the sun go down and enjoy the stars.
The Camping Ground is a family friendly, tents only campsite, running for 8 weeks during May half term (24 May - 2 June) and the summer holidays (19 July - 1 September.)
Our toilets and free hot showers come in stylish shepherds huts. We also have a sink area for washing up and a freezer for your ice packs. Free charging lockers are also available for securely charging mobile phones etc
We have a small campsite shop, selling camping essentials, milk, bread, locally sourced bacon, sausages etc. Freshly baked croissants and baguettes are available to buy for breakfast.
In addition, our log trailer visits each pitch every night selling logs for your fire pit (wheel rim pits are provided). Our logs come in recycled coffee bags, and include kindling, paper and natural firelighters.
Our vintage ice cream bike tours the site every evening, selling delicious local ice cream.
Saturday is our outdoor film night (weather permitting) when, at dusk we will be showing a family friendly film via our wireless headphones (so we don`t disturb the peace.) There is a small fee to hire these. Bring your deckchairs and enjoy the show.
Another highlight for our younger visitors is the Sunday morning tractor ride, when James hitches up his trailer, fires up his vintage Ferguson tractor and tours the camping grounds, collecting passengers along the way.
As we are situated in quite such a rural location, there is no mobile phone signal in the valley and Wifi is extremely limited. Take the opportunity for your children (and you!) to have a digital detox. We have plenty of space for games, adventures and new friendships.
Please note we are a small family friendly campsite. In order to maintain the peace of the site and out of consideration for our neighbours, we respectfully ask you to observe our campsite rules. * No amplified music *11pm noise curfew *Please respect other campers *Please keep your dogs under control, and pick up your poo!
Nearby Attractions
Ecton Bridge runs alongside the Manifold Track, a flat and accessible walking and cycle route. It provides a great starting point to explore the many other tracks and footpaths that criss-cross the area. We have suggested leaflets to guide you on some of our favorite walks.
This is cave country. Our nearest and most spectacular is Thor`s Cave, just a mile along the Manifold Track. Further afield, the Castleton Caves are some of the best show caverns in the country; a perfect rainy day activity.
If you are seeking thrills, then Alton Towers is just a few miles away. Or take a cable car up to the Heights of Abraham. Pre-booking is advised.
We are within easy reach of Buxton, Ashbourne, Leek and Bakewell. We are also just a short drive away from the Great Houses in the area. Chatsworth and Haddon Hall, or the numerous National Trust houses and gardens in the area provide a great day out.
