Few campsites are in sole possession of an island, and when that island lies in a beautiful tree-lined valley the site is likely to be something special. Camping Ile de Faigneul is! This peaceful site, a real family campsite in summer, is surrounded by the River Semois and is near the small village of Poupehan in the picturesque Belgian Ardennes. The 130 level pitches, all with 6A electricity (Europlug), on this grass covered island are all for touring units. The sites friendly owners, Alouis and Daniella van Zon-Berkes, who speak good English, took over the site a few years ago and have worked hard to return it to its present state of natural beauty.
Photographs in the bar will testify to their achievements. The homely bar/snack bar, with its terrace, is entirely in keeping with this comfortable, natural site.
Nearby Attractions
The region has plenty to interest visitors. For the more active there are mountain bike trails to explore, rivers to descend by canoe and forests though which to ramble. Places to visit could start with the small village of Poupehan with its slate-roofed, stone houses, then the twisting drive into Bouillon with its imposing castle overlooking the town. France is only a few kilometres away and Sedan is an interesting town to visit.
