This is a laid back site located in the Ardennes area of Belgium. The site is located in a deep valley on an island with the river Semois. It is popular with Dutch visitors, but there are some British visitors too.
Many of the pitches face out onto the river and you can have direct access. The pitches that are east facing have a slightly nicer river, than west, but there is also a general area where you can get in. The river is not deep enough to swim, but it was refreshing. There's a few trees dotted around to hang a hammock too. Water points are not far away.
There's 2 amenity blocks, with toilets and showers that are operated by a card system. Each camper gets 6 minutes per day, preloaded onto a card and this save the need for push buttons. We found this time more than adequate, and you get 2 cards if you need so that you are not waiting for family members to return. There's only just enough toilets and showers for when the site is full, but plenty of washbasins! We only had to wait a few times. There is a freezer near the snack bar for ice blocks.
A Bar is available on site which was very pleasant, and we used the snack bar service once, but it is Dutch fried food orientated. A laundry is also available, but you had to book a time at reception to use so takes a little planning. The owners speak good English and are very helpful. Bread is available to order every day except Mondays. The nearest supermarket was a Carrefour express and Aldi quite a way from the site in Boullion, there was one closer but often closed.
The playpark looked great for kids, and of course there's the rover to play in too. Many people had fires-firepits and wood are available so it can feel like a true back to basics camp experience. It can remain quite cold for a long time in the morning, whilst you wait for the sun to some over the tall trees in the valley, and the wifi wasn't the best probably because of the valley too.
It's a little out of the way to get to places, indeed the access road is quite narrow if towing but a very beautiful part to base yourselves. We visited the medieval fair and castle in Bouillion, and also went to the show caves in Rochefort.

We loved this campsite surrounded by water in beautiful part of the Ardennes. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Sites are spacious. You can order bread daily. There are portable bbq's dotted around the site for general use. There is also a bar/restaurant but we never used it so cannot comment.
The toilet/shower facilities were excellent - showers are worked by inserting a key in a slot - apparently it runs for 5 mins but we were always finished before time up.
Good cycling and plenty of walking in the area and you can hire single/double kayaks for 1 hr or 3 hrs downriver trip. Being first-timers we hired for 1 hour and were picked up downriver and taken back to point of departure - €14 per person. The river is mostly shallow with max depth around 4'. We got stuck on shallow bit and had to wiggle about to get free!
One thing would point out - the road is quite narrow for last 100 yards but unless you are arriving in morning when everyone else is leaving you should not have a problem. There is room for cars to pass you.
