Nearly Wild Camping on the beautiful Isle of Portland. By day you will see kestrels, owls and wildflowers, and with zero light pollution by night you can enjoy the most beautiful star gazing. We own a riding school so you can also book to ride and see the island on horseback
With minimal facilities and as little impact on the land as possible, we have handcrafted compost toilets and cold water on tap in each field. Come prepared for some wild weather but enjoy the breathtaking landscapes and coastline.
You will be in one of our privately owned fields with access to water and compost toilets (please bring your own toilet paper) and our new ‘token run hot showers.
Come and enjoy the many activities Portland has to offer, from horse riding, walking, rock climbing, bird watching, fishing, sailing or enjoying ice creams at the famous Portland Bill lighthouse.
Portland known as the jewel of Dorset, is a tied island, 4 miles long and just 5 miles south from Weymouth, forming the southernmost point of the county. The Jurassic Chesil Beach joins it to the mainland.
We are off the beaten track between the village of Southwell and Portland Bill.
Sunrises, sunsets and star gazing can be enjoyed by all in our campsite that covers approximately 5 acres of level ground with unrestricted views overlooking the sea and three lighthouses, across cornfields and grazing horses.

Owner Directions
Follow your sat nav to DT5 2DS. As you drive up Sweet Hill Road and the road starts to bend, you will see a sign for Chesil Equestrian on your left. Take the left up the track, as you drive up the track, you will see some of our 5mph sign and stables, also on your left.
You will then come to an open car parking area. Call the numbers above and one of us will meet you and show you to the camping areas.
